as a Global Marketer


To create effective marketing strategies for international audiences, you have to keep up with what's going on in the world. You have to stay informed of global events and trends - be they political, economic, demographic, social, cultural, or technological. It all affects how your target audience will relate to the content you want to share.

Understanding your foreign customers' reality - and then keeping that knowledge in mind as you localize your content - is key to a successful marketing strategy. Plenty of brands have stumbled in their international expansion efforts simply for lack of being better informed. Don't let your brand become one of them. With so many excellent resources out there, many of them free, there's really no excuse.

In no particular order, here are five of my favourite sites for keeping up-to-date with issues that should be of interest to any global-minded marketer:
