Susan Peck '14 Greenhouse

When Susan Peck graduated from Columbus Academy in 2014, she wasn't quite sure what the future held for her. She did know, however, that her journey from a new CA freshman to a young woman headed to Ohio State would not have been possible without the help, support and kindness of her Academy teachers and mentors. For this central reason, Susan wanted to give back to the school in a meaningful way, which she has done through the gift of a lovely Victorian-styled greenhouse. "I decided to give back to CA because I met many role models who helped shape me into a braver, more confident and open-minded adult," Susan told Head of School Melissa Soderberg during a recent campus visit. "I hope (this greenhouse) will serve as an inspiration to the CA community to learn more about sustainability and the natural world around us."
Honor Retiring Faculty

As the academic year comes to a close, Columbus Academy will say farewell to several retiring faculty members -- Nyssa Pymer, 34 years of service; John Kerr, 27 years of service; Mark Larson, 20 years of service; Jeannine Subisak, 20 years of service; Sheri Dillon, 18 years of service; and Anita Candler, 9 years of service. Alumni are invited to send notes of memories and farewell to the retiring faculty by emailing [email protected].

School News

"You will see as you wander around our campus, students going and talking to teachers they had in kindergarten, which is just a novelty to me because where I came from you barely even talked to the teachers when they were teaching you, let alone years and years after." That is a quote from Dr. Andy Bezant in the latest installment of NBC4's Education Today series. According to Dr. B, building successful role modeling and mentoring into a school's culture is so important and one of Columbus Academy's strongest aspects.
