Folsom City Council Adopts $201 Million Balanced Budget
The Folsom City Council unanimously approved a $201 million balanced budget for the 2017-18 fiscal year, which takes effect July 1.
The budget reflects a steady improvement in the economy and an increase in major revenue sources. The City is on track to finish the current fiscal year with a surplus, and this will mark the sixth consecutive year of adding to a rainy day fund- a key to the City's long-term financial sustainability.
The FY 2017-18 budget preserves the unique Folsom experience, bolsters the City's fiscal sustainability, improves core services, addresses deferred maintenance and equipment needs and invests in the future.
The budget includes a capital improvement program for the upcoming fiscal year, which will fund public infrastructure in the City. Projects include the design and permitting for Fire Station #39 in Empire Ranch, completion of Econome Family Park, construction of the second phase of the Johnny Cash Trail, upgrades to the water treatment plant, the widening of Green Valley Road between East Natoma Street and the El Dorado County line, and sidewalk improvements, street resurfacing projects and water and sewer infrastructure upgrades.
The City's budget invests in public safety and includes the hiring of two police dispatchers and three firefighters, and the purchase of replacement police vehicles and an ambulance. The budget will fund the completion of the Zoo Barn exhibit and park improvements at Handy, Nisenan, Sheldon, Reflections, and Mann Parks. The busy Folsom Public Library will receive an additional $18,000 for books and materials. The City of Folsom FY 2017-18 budget and budget presentation is available on the City's website.

Report a Problem to the City of Folsom
Want to report an abandoned vehicle in your neighborhood?  Burned out streetlight on your block? Broken sprinkler in your neighborhood park? In Folsom, there's an app for that. See Click Fix Folsom is a free app that improves the public's ability to submit and track non-emergency service requests through an online and mobile platform. The place-based reporting platform allows residents to document neighborhood concerns and improvements, ranging from litter and flooding to damaged sidewalks and malfunctioning traffic signals.

With the online and mobile reporting platform, residents can report concerns through service request categories via the City of Folsom website, mobile applications (iPhone, Android), Facebook App, and SeeClickFix.com. When submitting issues via mobile app, for example, residents can provide locational, descriptive, and photographic information as they see the issue in real time. Once an issue is submitted, the resident, City of Folsom staff, and anyone 'watching' the area will receive an alert. Folsom city staff members can then acknowledge the service request, route it to the proper department, and update the request once it's been resolved. Learn more.
