PTSA NEWS
Be a Part of Campus Improvement Day!

The 1 st  Annual Campus Improvement Day is Saturday May 6 th  from 9 am-1 pm. Don't miss our biggest ISPTSA event of this school year. Campus Improvement Day is going to be full of hands on, community building fun!  Because of the overwhelming responses to the Campus Improvement Survey, we have clear direction from you and Campus Improvement Day is step one in ISPTAs commitment to working together as a community for the enhancement of our school.

The district is supporting our event by allocating two maintenance supervisors who are prepping and planning for the day and who will be with us on May 6  th  to keep us on task. You spoke, the district heard, and now it is time to join friends for food, socializing, and rolling up our sleeves to improve our school.

Please check out the sign-up genius and choose a job that sounds fun to you:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e4dabab29aafb6-campus .

On May 6th, we will kick off our annual tradition by improving the main entrance, sixth grade locker bay entrance, courtyards, and plantings. If you are not able to attend the event there are spots to sign up to bring, or drop off, tools (e.g. shovels, rakes, hoses, and wheel barrows) or you can donate to help fund supplies (look for information in next week's MM).

We'd love to see 100% participation!

Please Help Us Celebrate School Lunch Hero Day  Fri. 5/5

School Nutrition Employee Week: May 1-5, 2017

School Lunch Hero Day is a national celebration in honor of the hard-working individuals who prepare meals for students each day. School nutrition employees must balance many roles and follow numerous federal, state and local regulations to ensure safe and healthy meals are available in schools.

What You Can Do
There are many ways to show appreciation for the cafeteria staff at your school. Anything from balloons and flowers to inviting staff to join in the morning announcements are great ways to remind them they're not forgotten. Below is a list of ideas schools and students can do to
celebrate School Lunch Hero Day:
  • Make cards and/or paper flowers and have students give them out to the staff during lunch.
  • Create thank-you banners and hang them up across the cafeteria in the morning.
    • Encourage students to write messages of appreciation on the banners.
  • Have students create images of the cafeteria staff as super heroes.
  • On a banner, write a list of why your cafeteria staff are awesome or create a Hall of Fame for the staff with photos (for example: "Most likely to greet you with a smile" or "Best chef") and hang them up around the cafeteria.
  • Give out custom trophies to the staff (for example: "Most likely to make you smile" or "Funniest Chef").
Secure Shredding of Sensitive Documents - Sat. 5/13

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Coldwell Banker Bain office at 150 Bellevue Way SE in Bellevue

As a courtesy to International School students and families, my mom and I cordially invite you to bring any sensitive documents that you need to have securely shredded to an open-to-the-community event that my mom's office is sponsoring. In this age of almost constant fraud threat, it's best to destroy bills, bank statements, tax returns or anything with sensitive and personal information. It's easy, its fast and it's free of charge.

Just bring any documents you want shredded (It's okay to include staples and binder clips). I'll help you unload your paper and toss it in the shredder truck. You can watch as it's shredded to unrecognizable confetti. Then you just safely and securely drive away with your identity in tact.

Parking Lot Safety - Help Needed

International is in desperate need of volunteers to help with Parking Lot safety before and after school.

The link to signup is http://signup.com/go/X3QzeG. You don't have to create an account to sign up, and an email reminder can be sent a couple days in advance.

In addition, we are working with the City of Bellevue to help with entrance/exit congestion; however, congestion in the parking lot itself can only be improved by drivers pulling even further forward than they think is necessary to allow more students to exit vehicles at a time.
