"My research on protecting the poor against aggregate shocks in South Asia will be especially important given the region's massive scale of poverty, which is predicted to intensity as one of the most vulnerable regions to climate change in the coming years."


Highlights of 2017
I n 2017 alone, SAI hosted over 50 seminars featuring visionary 
doctors ,  filmmakers , and  activists .  We funded student and faculty research on critical issues ranging from  disaster preparedness in Nepal and  financial inclusion in Pakistan,  to  menstrual management in India. 


Harvard Hosts Conference in Nepal
SAI will host a conference in Lalitpur, Nepal on Friday, January 5, 2018. Based on medieval documents and modern practice, scholars from the USA and Nepal will discuss the spread and development of Buddhism in the India-Nepal corridor. 

Flashback Friday: Gender and Arts
On September 19, 2014, SAI inaugurated our Arts Initiative with a seminar discussion between actor and director, Nandita Das, and Emerson College professor, Cara Moyer-Duncan, about the role of arts in social change.
