CPWR Quarterly Data Report:
Fall Injuries and Fall Prevention in Construction
Sadly, no industry loses more lives to fall injuries than construction
. As we gear up for the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Construction Falls on May 8-12, our good friend Chris Trahan Cain, executive director for CPWR, has provided a new
Quarterly Data Report
that provides insight into this persistent occupational hazard.
|
Did you know:
- Between 2011 and 2015, the annual number of fall fatalities in construction increased by 36%, exceeding employment growth in the industry.
- More than half (55%) of fall fatalities in construction occurred from a height of 20 feet or less.
- Hispanic workers, foreign-born workers, and workers aged 55 or older had an elevated risk of fatal falls.

We hope that you will read the Quarterly Data Report and use its findings, together with the many resources on the Stop Construction Falls
website
, to help put a stop to these preventable deaths. On the site you will find everything you need to be part of the May Stand-Down - even a free
Stand-DownApp
. Working together, we can save lives in 2017.
