Progress Takes Shape
Active Amenities, Better Access & Beautiful Landscaping Keep KOP Ahead of the Curve

After years of steady planning and beautiful enhancements, some of the biggest projects for King of Prussia District (KOP-BID) are coming to fruition this year, while we set the stage for even greater improvements in the coming years.

Commuters and visitors that drive I-76 westbound to King of Prussia will enjoy the first full season of blooms and beautiful landscaping in the median island across from the exit ramp to Rt 202 and 422. The 22,000 SF plantings, at this major highway interchange, brings the total of public right-of-ways landscaped and maintained by KOP-BID to over 57,000 SF in 18 separate locations throughout King of Prussia.

We look forward to adding more natural beauty with the opening of THE PARK next week on May 17th. The First Avenue Linear Park Demonstration Project, known as THE PARK, is the next big step to transforming the King of Prussia business park into a vibrant and active neighborhood.

But all of these projects are just the beginning for physical improvements and transportation enhancements we have planned in King of Prussia. Read on to see what's in store in 2017 and beyond!

Sincerely,
Christopher Basler

This segment of THE PARK will continue the multi-use path, pedestrian solar lighting and accessible features found in the Demonstration Project to 15 more parcels along both sides of First Avenue. Construction is slated to begin on Phase Two in 2018.

Improving Our Shuttle Service
Rider Survey for theconnector Commuter Shuttle

KOP-BID and the Montgomery County Planning Commission are conducting a rider survey for theconnector commuter shuttle to gather information and examine possibilities for improvements. All riders of theconnector, past and present, are encouraged to take this survey to help KOP-BID accurately determine who theconnector serves and how the shuttle can make commutes better. All participants that submit a fully completed survey will be entered to win their choice of: 20 theconnector Shuttle Tickets OR 2 tickets to KOP Beerfest Royale

Physical Improvement Committee Plans New Aesthetic Enhancements
Committee Developing a 5-10 Year Action Plan

While the development of the First Avenue Linear Park continues, KOP-BID's Physical Improvement Committee is looking for opportunities to make enhancements in other areas throughout King of Prussia.

KOP-BID has engaged the planning and design firm Glackin Thomas Panzak to assist the Committee with developing a 5-10 year Action Plan that will identify key areas for additional improvements at entrances and corridors outside of the King of Prussia business park. This Action Plan will help KOP-BID prioritize the next wave of enhancements to make a positive impact throughout King of Prussia. Initial projects will be identified in time for the 2018 budget cycle.

Defining a Neighborhood
KOP-BID Seeks to Develop a Brand for the Business Park

At the beginning of 2017, KOP-BID invited representatives from a variety of industries, including: commercial office; industrial; manufacturing; retail; and hospitality, as well as local government officials and KOP residents to discuss the area and the assets of the King of Prussia business park.

Through Brand Therapy sessions and individual interviews, led by AgileCat, it was determined that the view of the business park was no longer strictly commercial office or industrial. With the rezoning of the business park as mixed-use in 2014, this section of UMT has the opportunity to develop into an active and vibrant neighborhood that is energized 24/7, instead of simply a 9 AM-5 PM office park.

Working with AgileCat and the engaged stakeholders, KOP-BID is now in the process of creating an action plan for the next steps of this project.
