Moment for Reflection: Generosity Always

This week I am attending a conference in Washington, D.C. called Generosity Now. I'll be hearing speakers and attending a number of workshops, all of which will explore how our churches, and how we as disciples of Jesus, can increase our generosity with financial resources, as well as with our time and talent.

The title of this conference is great, generosity is something that we are capable of right now, and I am very excited to be a part of this event. But I've titled this reflection "generosity always," because I believe that is another great way of thinking about our faith. The Christian story has always been one of generosity. We believe in a God who created the universe and filled it with abundant life, and generously gave humanity the earth to live in and care for. We believe in a savior who gave up everything on the cross, who was generous to the point of offering his life. We believe in a Spirit who was poured out on all nations, who is always within and among us.

We know that God has always been generous to us, just as we have been called to be generous now and that both our generosity, and the infinite generosity of God, have a profound impact on our lives and the world.

I looked forward to sharing what I hear this week, and I can't wait to be back with you for worship on Sunday.

God's peace be with you always!
Pastor Tim
