Volunteer Breakfast
Thurs, May 18, 8-9 am, Fairmeadow 2nd Story Patio
To show our  appreciation  for the enumerable ways that parent  volunteers  improve the experience for all children at our school, we would like to welcome all parent  volunteers  to our  Volunteer   Breakfast . Whether you've worked in your child's classroom, spent time in Science Lab, the Library, or Spectra Art, whether you drove students in your car on a field trip, led a lunchtime activity, or contributed time in any other way to our school, please be sure to join us for breakfast this Thursday!
Help for the Easton Family
As many of you know, o ur beloved Mrs. Easton is battling breast cancer and the Easton family needs our help! Last month, Mrs. Easton was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is had surgery last week, and  will be out for the rest of the school year and the beginning of next year. If you would like to support the Easton family, you can contribute to the GoFundMe campaign, sign up to provide a meal on the Meal Train, or donate to the Munchery account. Mrs. Easton is also keeping a blog which you can check on for updates.

The family is very appreciative of all the donations and support given to them so far and is feeling the love of the Fairmeadow community! Thank you to all!
Calling All Parents of JLS-Bound 5th Graders!
If you will have a 6th grader at JLS next year, please subscribe to the JLS CLASS 2020 list (do this even if you already have a student at JLS). This will ensure that you will receive the weekly JLS eNews during all of the years your student is at JLS and also any separate communications that are sent only to next year's 6th grade JLS parents. PAUSD Youth Art 2017 by Palo Alto Students

This powerful show demonstrates the range and depth of the visual arts accomplishments of Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) student-artists. Coordinated by PAUSD Arts Coordinator Sharon Ferguson, the show communicates the creative ideas and issues that are important to PAUSD student-artists. The technical expertise in combination with the aesthetic sophistication is astounding. All media and ages are represented K-12. 
Children's Safety Poster Contest
Sodexo Safety Poster Contest open to children ages 6-17, judging done in separate age categories with prizes of $200, $150 and $100 gift cards. Posters should illustrate safety in home, workplace, and anywhere in between. Each entrant must fill out Sodexo Release-Minor form. Entries accepted until May 26. Contact Alva Spence  for more info.

Help Design Rail Corridor for Our Future
Sat, May 20, 10 am - 2 pm, Mitchell Park Community Center
Palo Altans have the opportunity to address long-standing challenges associated with four grade crossings on the Caltrain corridor, which runs through our community. At the workshop, participants will help define the challenges at each grade crossing and talk about how to move forward for rail corridor of the future. For more information, click here.
Design for Superheroes!

This workshop by Jeff Riseberg focuses on "Why do things look the way they do?" Beginning with some of the first industrial designs, such as for cars and trains from nearly 100 years ago, students discover the continuing influences of design in today's world. We will find that many of today's video game designs and superhero characters were actually created some 70 years ago! Get ready to work on design challenges for objects such as banks, lunch boxes, bridges, and even secret enemy bases! This class is for students ages 10 and up. iSing Auditions for Girls in Grades 1-12
iSing is hosting auditions throughout the summer. We are specifically hoping to meet girls who love to sing in grades 1-4 but auditions for all ages welcome. iSing is an arts organization committed to the music education of girls in grades 1-12. We believe that singing teaches young people to strive for excellence, to work collaboratively with others, and to become passionate members of their communities. Ragazzi Boys Chorus Spring Recital

Not sure about auditioning? Hear our youngest singers! The boys of Ragazzi Boys Chorus, from small to tall, sing in their end-of-the-year Spring Recital. Many levels of the chorus are showcased, at levels from beginners through boys preparing for summer touring. The choristers are at their finest at this recital. From Sea to Shining Sea | Ragazzi Boys Chorus

Hear our most accomplished artists at this fun season-closer. Ragazzi presents music prepared for our upcoming tours to the Baltics and Arizona. Concert highlights will include a focus on American music, featuring gospel, spirituals, and pop music. Each of our touring groups, Avanti, Concert Group, and Young Men's Ensemble, will do at least one choreographed song with the help of our dance master and choreographer, Karl Kuehn. Love to Sing? Ragazzi Boys Chorus Auditions for 7-10 Year Olds
By appointment through June, 178 Clinton St, Redwood City
Ragazzi Boys Chorus, a CBS news 'best choir of the Peninsula,' will teach your boy to sing! Schedule your 7-10 year old boy for a fun group audition. He'll learn a song and have a blast; no prior experience or preparation needed to try out. Boys start slow, then grow. Ragazzi's opportunities include singing the National Anthem at a San Francisco Giants game, Opera roles, collaborations with Stanford's choruses and the San Francisco Symphony, and even worldwide touring. Palo Alto World Music Day: Save the Date, Musicians and Volunteers Wanted 
Sun, June 18, 3-7:30 pm, University Ave (closed to traffic)  
The City of Palo Alto has declared June 18 as World Music Day. World Music Day is a free music festival that takes place in cities around the world every year around the Summer Solstice. Now for the eighth year in Palo Alto, 50 professional and amateur musical groups will perform a wide variety of musical genres: jazz, pop, rock, classical, world music, choral, etc. All performances are free and open to the public. This is a fun and unique family event not to be missed. Book the date now and tell your friends. The organizers are also looking for musicians and event volunteers from our community, including students from our schools.
