A prayer for the New Year
Lord God, loving Savior, forgiver of our sins, to know you is to love you; to serve you is eternal life. We give you thanks for the beginning of another year and the opportunities that lie before us. We pray that we may serve you more and more each day. Guide us through this year with joy and thankfulness for all your many blessings, that our eyes may be open to see you at work in the world and the opportunities you give us to serve you and those around us. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We say "goodby" to Jonathan Boksan this Sunday
This Sunday, January 7, we will say our heartfelt goodbyes and thank you's to Jonathan, who has been our organist and choir director for the past 4 years. His music has inspired us and enriched our worship. His dedication to the choir has been evident as they have thrived and grown under his leadership. Please come Sunday and thank Jonathan for his ministry among us and wish him Godspeed as he and his wife Laura return to Pennsylvania. We will have a special reception for Jonathan following the service.

The Vestry is the governing board of the parish and makes financial, outreach, building and other decisions on behalf of the congregation. Vestry members are elected at our Annual Meeting which will be held on Sunday, February 11. We need confirmed members in good standing to run for the Vestry to fill up to five vacancies. (We can have 12 on the Vestry and we currently have 9.) The Vestry meets on the third Sunday of the month at 12:00 noon.
Vestry meeting are open to parish members to attend. You are invited to attend a meeting and see what goes on. If you would like to know more, talk with a Vestry member.

by
reading ahead for the Sunday Service lessons.
The First Reading:
Isaiah 60:1-6
The glory of the Lord is portrayed as a wondrous light. All people will be drawn to salvation by God's radiance.
The Epistle:
Ephesians 3:1-12
Writing from prison, Paul shares his revelation that through Christ, all people - including the Gentiles - are now called to be numbered among the saints.
Led by a brilliant new star, astrologers from the east come to Bethlehem to pay homage to the King of the Jews. Herod, fearing a challenge to his own authority, wants to kill the infant Savior.

Reminder
Every Wednesday evening, we have a service of Holy Eucharist and healing at 6:00 PM. The service is about 30 minutes. It is a perfect alternative for those who cannot come to church on Sunday mornings, as well as a good spiritual boost in the middle of the week. Come join us!

Humility
True humility rises from a right assessment of one's self, an assessment that is without exaggerated approval or exaggerated disdain. A truly humble person sees herself as one small creature in God's wide world-a child of God and made in the image of God, but also fallible and weak, in constant need of God's mercy and help.
