Our Vision Statement
Old North Church is an inclusive Christian Community called to bring to life God's love and grace by sharing the gospel for this time and place; extending the hospitality Christ showed; embodying God's love and compassion to those in need; and growing together in our understanding and experience of the Holy Spirit at work in our midst.
Children's Church
Following the star and finding the light! This Sunday we will gather upstairs in the Story Telling Tent to explore the last piece of the Christmas story. The star, the Wisemen, the gifts. Gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh and we will share our gifts as we consider our place at the manger. What will you bring? Something as simple as a smile, an act of kindness...what will it be? Jesus is the light of the world and we too are light and love through him. We are called to share that light with others sharing our gifts. We will join our families in the Sanctuary to celebrate communion together. I look forward to seeing you as we begin the new year together!  - Karen

Please note that we will begin "Winter Wednesdays" on Wednesday, January 17th. It is a new 8 week program, mid January - mid March. Although it is offered as an alternate time for Children's Church for those who may be away on Sundays, all are welcome. The timing will work hand in hand with the Choir rehearsal times. 4th-6th grade 3:30 - 4:15, K-3rd grade 4:30- 5:15. Please note: The children do not have to participate in choir to be a part of the program.
Pot Luck Dinner - January 10

Burns Supper

Friday, January 26, 2018

Join us for an Old North tradition and step into the Hall for a Scottish village ceilidh.  It all starts at 6:30pm with a hosted reception, followed by the ceremonial piping in of the haggis and a fine Scottish dinner.  With pleasure we welcome back Elias Alexander, pipes and fiddle, accompanist Neil Perlman and our own gifted vocalist Julianne Gearhart for an after dinner entertainment inspired by the life and music of birthday boy Robert Burns (258 and still remembered fondly). The whole finished off with a jig and a reel.  Never too early to reserve by emailing [email protected].

Coffee with Karla Friday Mornings
at Haley's!
Please come and join me for a chat, to share a concern, or just enjoy good conversation.   Beginning this week, Wednesday Coffee Hours will be discontinued, but Friday mornings will continue each week from 9:30-11am at Haley's.
Welcoming the Stranger Update
Welcoming the Stranger Interfaith Service-- Please Save the Date!    Temple Emanu-el has extended an invitation to Old North, St. Andrews and Clifton Lutheran congregations to join them on Friday evening January 12, 2018 at 6:00 pm for their weekly Shabbat Service. It is an opportunity to worship together as well as to support and celebrate our collaborative effort on behalf of the Welcoming the Stranger Project. A light supper will follow the service. Temple Emanu-el is located at 393 Atlantic Avenue on the right side as you head to Swampscott just before the Clifton Street traffic light. Our four houses of worship have joined together to support  RIM (Refuge Immigration Ministry) through the Marblehead Cluster which has been responsible for helping Danie, a Haitian mother, and her toddler Annie who have sought political asylum to find housing in Salem as well as legal advice, medical care, English lessons, hugs, transportation, and many other forms of support. Annie is enrolled in Head Start. Danie is working at a nursing home in Danvers and is continuing her studies to be a Certified Nursing assistant. She will move to a full time position in January. Old North Church will be welcoming the other three congregations to our 10 am service on February 11 to celebrate this effort. St Andrews will be doing the same in March and then followed by Clifton Lutheran Church in April.

ONC Family Ski Trip
For the third year in a row, Mark Roberge and others are organizing an ONC family ski trip. This year the trip will be the weekend of 1/19 to 1/21. Last year about 40 people headed up to the White Mountains together. Skiing experience is not required. We had many first time skiers. We also had a number of people that did not ski but snow shoed, hiked, ice skated, read a book in the ski lodge, and joined the group for dinner and hot chocolate. We hope to see even more people this year. We have rooms blocked at Whitney's Inn in Jackson, NH. Simply mention that you are with Old North Church in Marblehead and you will get a 10% discount. The rooms are on hold until 12/15. Let Mark [email protected] know if you can make it so they can begin organizing the weekend plans.  This trip is meant to be highly inclusive, rather than exclusive. Everyone is invited~~it will be fun!
