Artists can apply for grants up to $2,000.
The R2AC Individual Artist Grant Program, made available with funding from the McKnight Foundation, provides financial assistance to artists in any art discipline or in any stage of their career as an artist. This grant offers funding for costs associated with the exhibition, performance, or production of a creative work; purchase of materials or equipment necessary for a creative work; educational opportunities; mentorships; and proposals for career-enhancing projects or opportunities.

Organizations can apply for grants up to $6,000.
Arts Access Grants can support creation, production, and presentation of high-quality arts activities, as well as projects that help overcome barriers to accessing high-quality arts activities, and projects that help instill the arts into the community and public life in our region. These grants offer funding for a variety of arts projects and programming including costs associated with public art, arts festivals, engagement of guest artists, arts field trips, workshops, exhibitions, presentations, or performances.
Non-profits, arts organizations, schools, community education programs, institutions of higher learning, local city, town, county government or tribal offices, or groups formed for nonprofit purposes with a fiscal sponsor can apply. Arts activities proposed for funding must be accessible by the public and have a strong community component.

Upcoming Grant Deadline
The purpose of the R2AC Community Arts Support Grant is to provide a measure of funding stability for area arts organizations so that their energy can be better focused on increasing the quality and availability of the arts to our communities.
Eligible organizations must have arts programming at the center of their mission, and must have been bringing arts projects and programming to our Region 2 Arts Council communities for a minimum of two full years.
Award amounts are based on an applicant organization's averaged expenses for the two
completed fiscal years previous to the application deadline.

Upcoming Grant Deadline
Maximum Award: $600
The Young Artist Grant provides 8th-12th grade students residing in Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods or Mahnomen counties the opportunity to study art with a practicing professional artist, attend an arts workshop, take a class, or attend an arts camp in the state of Minnesota. Grant recipients are reimbursed up to $600 for work with a mentor artist/instructor or for costs associated with attending an arts camp/class/workshop. As part of the maximum $600 grant award, you may also ask for reimbursement up to $100 for travel expenses, including mileage at $0.535/mile, lodging, and/or meals, and you may ask for reimbursement up to $50 for arts materials such as reeds, sheet music, paints, brushes, books, ballet slippers, sketch pads, etc.

R2AC Board Member Vacancies
Currently we need one resident each from Lake of the Woods and Mahnomen counties to become a member of
our Board of Directors. This is a great opportunity to understand the workings of the granting process, to be more involved with the arts and artists of your region, and to enjoy camaraderie with others who appreciate the arts.

Teaching Artist Roster
The Region 2 Arts Council is facilitating the creation of a Teaching Artist Roster in service of artists who are interested in arts instruction opportunities and to support organizations and schools that are seeking artists for that purpose.
The Teaching Artist Roster is a tool to connect artists with schools and organizations. It is not an endorsement of the teaching qualifications of the artist or the suitability of an artist to meet the specific needs of an organization or school. Region 2 Arts Council recommends that artists be paid a minimum of $300 per four teaching hours; however, R2AC is not responsible for any aspect of the agreements made between organizations, schools, and artists.

Headwaters Music & Arts will host Recent Works by Tom Daly: Pottery,
Driftwood and Plants. 4 - 6 pm. Following Daly's reception will be the
Open Mic Coffee House from 7 - 10 pm, hosted by Cory Campbell and
Lori Barrow.

Operating Support Grants Available
Operating Support provides general operating support to high quality, established arts organizations that produce, present, or exhibit works of art; to organizations that provide a broad range of services to artists; and to community arts schools and conservatories that make arts learning available to Minnesotans of all ages and abilities. Grant amounts are $15,000 and up.

Arts Learning is a grant program that offers funding for projects that help lifelong learners acquire knowledge, understanding, and skills in the arts. Projects must provide participatory learning and engage learners with skilled teaching artists and high quality artistic experiences. AICHO is hosting an exhibit honoring phenomenal women of color. For this exhibit, "Phemonenal," they want artists who identify both as women and individuals who are Indigenous, Black, Latinx, and/or Asian. Artists who fit this criteria are asked to submit artwork inspired by women of color, representations of womanhood as related to their culture, and/or equity in feminism within communities of color.
Selected Artists will be notified on an ongoing basis before drop-off deadline of Monday, March 5.

is included in the International Society of Glass Beadmakers issue of "THE FLOW" publication. This issue features one of her handmade glass beads in the 13th Annual Gallery of Women in Glass and a tutorial titled "Art to Art: The Influence of Rosemaling on the Art of Flameworking." This tutorial, with text and demonstration by Kat Sanders, demonstrates her way to
re-create a Norwegian decorative painting
technique in glass art.

Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grants Awarded
The Region 2 Arts Council (R2AC) awarded $4,728 through the Anishinaabe Arts Initiative (AAI) Program. Monies awarded are for arts activities related to its mission of supporting, maintaining, and promoting traditional and contemporary Native American arts in North Central Minnesota. The Anishinaabe Arts Initiative grants program is supported by a grant from the McKnight Foundation.

was awarded $999 to purchase an air compressor to facilitate creation of his original airbrush designs.

to create fine arts prints of her paintings as well as matting and display materials for exhibition of her work.

was awarded $1,000 to purchase a printer to print his original works of art directly on t-shirts

, received $829 to purchase equipment, materials, and supplies for her project Ogitchidaa/Ogitchidaakwe to make Warrior Quilts telling the stories of veterans.

, received $900 to purchase an airbrush, compressor, paints, and t-shirts to create original wearable art.
