Welcome Rachel Howell, ECRL's new Assistant Director
ECRL is pleased to welcome Rachel Howell to the organization as the new Assistant Director.
Rachel received her Master of Library and Information Science with an emphasis on Archives/Archival Administration and a Master of Arts in American History from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1992. She also possesses BA's in English and History from Hiram College in Ohio.
Prior to moving to Minnesota, Rachel spent eleven years at the Dallas (TX) Public Library as Assistant Manager, overseeing two floors of the central research library. Since moving to Minnesota, she has worked as the Curator of Books at the Bakken Museum in Minneapolis and has been assisting the Museum of Lake Minnetonka with its archives.

Looking for a Lego club or another hands-on activity for your kids to attend? How about the next author event at a nearby library? Or perhaps a book club to join?
It is now much easier for people to find out what's going on at any of the 14 ECRL branches and Outreach with the launching of our new events calendar. Simply
www.ecrlib.org and click on Events Calendar in the upper right hand corner of the page.
You'll see a brand new calendar that gives you several options. Whether you want to search by type of event (i.e. storytime, arts & crafts, genealogy/history, home/garden, etc.) or by age group (i.e. adults, preschool, etc.) or by location (all 14 ECRL branches, Outreach), you now have the option. You can narrow your search as much as you'd like by using the drop-down menus.
Once you've chosen your options, hit search and your results will appear on the calendar. You can also simply search month by month and click on any of the events listed on a specific date. When you click on a certain event, a window will open that will list more information including the date, time, location, description of the event, registration information (if needed) and more.
Do you have any idea how busy our libraries have been planning programming and activities for you and your family? We hope this new tool will easily assist you to find what is happening at all our East Central Regional Library branches each and every day. Plus remember: you can always call your local ECRL branch, and staff will provide you with more information.
The
EVENTS CALENDAR is very new, and we are still in the process of adding more events each day. So check back periodically in case you missed something! It's going to be a very busy summer at our ECRL branches. Come be a part of all the excitement!
