Deadline TODAY  to Apply for the Quality Communities Grant Program
OML has partnered with OU's Institute for Quality Communities to offer the Quality Communities Grant Program which will assist its members with up to 50% of the funding to those communities whose projects have been selected by OU's IQC for a project in their community. Applications are to be submitted to OU IQC and  deadline to submit a request for assistance is today, May 15th, 2017. Mayor Cornett Holds OKC's Annual Development Roundtable
Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett held his annual Development Roundtable last week.  OML staffers Missy Dean, Sarah Lingenfelter and Nancee Morris attended the event.  The Kick-Off Keynote speaker and Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri, Sly James spoke to the crowd regarding their Transportation program that was implemented in 2016 after a two year development program that included a trolley system to better serve today's talent.
 
Whether it was Kris Kanaly of the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate talking about their public art program or Bud Scott from the Farmer's Market District talking about the growth made in their area; the theme for the morning came shining through - development in Oklahoma City is alive and well .
2017 OML Annual Conference, September 12-14, Tulsa

2016 Mayor of the Year for Smaller Communities

The Mayors Council of Oklahoma (MCO) is accepting nominations for the Mayor of the Year award. The two Mayor of the Year award recipients are recognized for their continued dedication and vision for their individual communities. The awards are given to one municipality of 5,000 or more and one municipality of less than 5,000 in population.

OML is also now accepting nominations for the Don Rider Award. The Don Rider Award was first established in 1988 recognizing outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to their community as well as their profession through personal growth and involvement. The award will be presented at the annual OML Conference in September.
 
Nominations are being accepted for the Innovations award, which is given in honor of a municipality that has shown its strength with an innovative idea that highlights the community.
 
 The nominations for these awards will be accepted until Friday, July 14, 2017.
 


Sign Up To Be In Our Certified Municipal Official Program
Managing today's cities and towns is a complex endeavor further challenged by the continual advances in technology. Municipal officials and employees need a tremendous amount of knowledge to run a municipality. With this in mind, OML offers a Certified Municipal Official Program. The purpose of this program is to recognize officials and employees who continue to develop their skills and enrich their expertise in local government. This is a voluntary program available to all municipal officials and employees. Next New Officials Institutes Coming In June
Throughout the year OML provides an intensive educational program specifically tailored for newly elected and appointed officials as well as experienced officials who want to keep up-to-date on municipal issues. An officer is defined in 11 O.S. Section 1-102. The June Institutes will  be he ld June 8th  in Oklahoma City at the Francis Tuttle Center, Rockwell location  and June 15thin Tulsa at the  Tulsa Tech, Lemley Campus. The two June classes will be your last opportunity to fulfill your requirements for this fiscal year.  For more information,  see

Save the Date for the Mayors Council Of Oklahoma Summer Conference July 20-22
The Mayors Council of Oklahoma (MCO) will host the summer conference in Idabel July 20, 21, and 22, 2017. The annual event provides mayors, vice-mayors and their families an opportunity to experience the best the hosting city has to offer, as well as training and networking opportunities. Idabel Mayor Tina Foshee-Thomas will organize the conference and has tremendous plans for those in attendance.  Thursday morning is reserved for the MCO and OML Board of Directors' meeting followed by a golf scramble. On Friday, participants will take in one of the wonderful tours that the City of Idabel has to offer. Rotating roundtable sessions with hot topics to stimulate the discussion are planned.  Join us in Idabel for three days with other Mayor's from around our great state.
