He's Back! Welcoming
Tim Z. Hernandez home to the Parkway for Respite by the River
Thursday, May 18 - 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Tim Z. Hernandez is a writer, research scholar, and performance artist. On Thursday night he will read from his new book All They Will Call You, the harrowing account of "the worst airplane disaster in California history," which claimed the lives of thirty-two passengers, including twenty-eight Mexican citizens - farm workers who were being deported.

Combining years of painstaking investigative research and masterful storytelling, award-winning author Tim Z. Hernandez weaves a captivating narrative from testimony, historical records, and eyewitness accounts, reconstructing the incident and the lives behind the legendary song. This singularly original account pushes narrative boundaries, while challenging perceptions of what it means to be an immigrant in America, but more importantly, it renders intimate portraits of the individual souls who, despite social status, race, or nationality, shared a common fate one frigid morning in January 1948.

You can spark their curiosity about the natural world!

Today you have the chance to help inspire the next generation of river stewards by making a donation to the River Camp Firebaugh scholarship fund.

This summer, we will offer five weeks of River Camp for approximately 500 children in the community of Firebaugh. This program is only possible thanks to the support of local businesses and generous individuals like you.

Your donation today will provide scholarships for children to attend River Camp. Your support will also help provide service learning and leadership skills training for local high school students and jobs for college students from FIrebaugh and the surrounding communities.

River Camp Firebaugh means connecting children to the outdoors and sparking their curiosity about the natural world.
