WHAT'S NEW AT THE BGCSV
News from the Club!
It seems like April showers have brought more showers rather than May flowers...but as the weather is warming up, the end of the school year is right around the corner!

Some highlights around the Club this May...
  • Many of our afterschool members were a part of the cast of Seussical the Musical (above), and even more went to see the crazy colorful show! Not only did the kids perform for more than 1,200 audience members (and have a great time doing it!), but they collected 1,890 books that were donated to the charity Reader to Reader at the Saturday performance.

  • The Homework Club is the place to be after school these days! Sandi, the homework director, worked with volunteer Charlie to create a math challenge for 5th graders. The winners received Easter baskets! Since then, she has created a second academic challenge for members in grades 2-4, who asked for a challenge of their own after seeing how much fun the 5th graders had!
(Below: the winners of the 5th grade challenge)

  • We had close to 100 people at our Peanuts Movie Night and Ice Cream Social, which was a great time for members, families, and community members! Thanks to Crossway Church for working with us to make it happen!
DID YOU KNOW?
  • Because we're an official Kidcents charity, you can support the Club by "rounding up" any Rite Aid purchase to the nearest dollar, and allowing the change to be donated.  For every $500 raised Rite Aid matches penny for penny, so $500 becomes $1,000.  This is a great way to support the Club! PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: APRIL VACATION CAMP

We had an awesome time during April Vacation Camp week! Not only did we have activities planned throughout the day, including special art projects, face painting, and outdoor adventures, but we had plenty of guests helping us run some pretty fantastic gym programs. We appreciated all our volunteers and are thankful they helped the kids have such a great time!

Would you trust your friends to paint your face? These girls in the Facepaint your Friends activity had nothing to worry about!

Sports week was so popular! We had activities run by the Milford and Souhegan High School sports teams, including members of baseball, basketball, soccer, and field hockey teams, to name a few. Thanks to all!

Haley's nature themed art projects with the kids turned out GREAT!

One of our Movie Night/Ice Cream Social attendees definitely approved of the evening!

THE VOTES ARE IN ON THE 2017 NONPROFIT OF THE YEAR...
We are thrilled to announce that we were recently awarded the 2017 Nonprofit of the Year by Business NH Magazine! Many thanks to our staff, volunteers, and incredibly supportive community: you enable us to serve our members every day. We're looking forward to helping kids be great for years to come!

Dear Parents

NH Gives - an initiative of the NH Center for Nonprofits - is designed to bring the state together as one community, raising as much money and awareness as possible for New Hampshire's nonprofits within a 24-hour, flash-mob of giving.

NHGives.org provides citizens across the state with one, easy-to-use platform where they can find causes and make donations.

This year the Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley is seeking support to expand our drug and alcohol prevention programs, helping to build resiliency skills for our most vulnerable and at risk youth with the goal to reduce drug and alcohol misuse in the Souhegan Valley.  Your donation will support programs that provide teens with leadership training so that they can influence and support their peers at the Boys & Girls Club, in their schools, and in the community.  Your donation will support evidence-based prevention programs for younger members to help them stay healthy and away from the negative effects of drug and alcohol misuse.

Thank you for your constant support - we couldn't do what we do without you!
