It's Time to Order your 2018 Labor Law Posters!

With the new year upon us, as a business, one of the main things to remember is that compliance is key. Many regulations have been updated or introduced for California in 2018. Your 2017 posters will now be considered outdated and you will not be in compliance.

All California businesses must display up-to-date labor and safety notices where all employees can see them to be in compliance with federal and state laws.

Therefore, the 2017 all-in-one poster no longer meets the federal and state 2018 requirements. Updated posters include the following important revisions:

  • CA Minimum Wage Notice
  • CA Transgender Rights

Companies will also have to update their Industrial Welfare Commission Wage Order (#1 Manufacturing or #4 Administrative) given the new state minimum wage increases.

Some companies may also be required to display additional notices depending on their operation, such as forklift safety, fire extinguisher use, safe lifting, and blood borne pathogens.

Avoid fines and penalties by pre-ordering your posters.
If you have any other questions about the posters, contact  Cheryl Chong , at ext. 218.
PIASC Graphic Communications Career Day: Friday, February 9, 2018
In the past few months, the PIASC team has been visiting members and one concern we found to always come into conversation is the lack of qualified people. Whether it be a pressman or a sales representative, there is just not enough.

PIASC is working to make a positive impact on this shortage with several efforts. Our first step is a private Career Day for members only at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (CPSLO) on Friday, February 9th. This event is limited to 8 member companies on a first come, first serve basis. Those participating will have the opportunity to meet and interview Graphic Communications students who have been involved in a course study that combines classroom work with time on various pieces of equipment.

If you are interested in participating in this event, please contact Lou Caron at 323.728.9500, Ext. 274.

IRS postpones 1095 Delivery Deadline
Firms that employ 50 or more persons must provide IRS Form 1095-C to their employees showing information about employer-provided health insurance. The IRS extended the due dates for these to March 2, 2018 (April 2, 2018 if filed electronically). If you obtain your health insurance coverage from PIBT, we will be sending you the coverage information. For further information, call Evie Bañaga at Ext. 224.
