A Warm Welcome to the incoming

On December 4, 2017, Elaine Capes will be starting as the incoming DC MOVES Coordinator. Elaine brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the Dufferin community to this evolving position. I am pleased to say that we will work together in December to ensure that DC MOVES is ready for 2018. We  will produce the  December 15 issue of What's on the MOVES as a joint effort.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the many contributors and readers. You have helped build this bulletin into a vibrant and relevant support to the DC MOVES Vision - To develop a unified human service presence, where both agencies and residents of Dufferin County are aware of local programs and services, and have greater capacity to effectively access them.

Please keep up the great work.

Well Wishes from the DC MOVES Leadership Table
The DC MOVES Leadership Table would like to extend our appreciation for all of the hard work that Carol has put into the DC MOVES initiative. Here are a few words from some of our members:
I would like to thank Carol for her dedication and commitment to the work of DC MOVES throughout the last year.  Carol effortlessly utilized her vast experience as a facilitator and consultant to provide support to the Leadership Table and participating organizations in their ongoing endeavour of integrating the human services community in Dufferin County.   Carol successfully planned and executed DC MOVES forums, engaged in relationship building and promotion opportunities, and was at the forefront of establishing the Dufferin County Poverty Reduction Taskforce.  I wish Carol all the best as she seeks out new opportunities to share her unique talents.  -  Keith Palmer

It has been a pleasure and privilege working with Carol this year. Her focus and key ability to organize and facilitate supported the DC MOVES initiative in developing to what it is today. We now have a community connected by a framework, with regular opportunities to meet and provide essential feedback. The groundwork for the future has been put in motion. Her great attitude and even approach were a benefit to all of us. Job well done Carol! You'll be missed.  -  Shirley Boxem

Extending my thanks to Carol for her great organizational skills and attention to detail in providing me with an onboarding and orientation to the people, projects and processes that form the foundation established in her tenure as the DC MOVES Coordinator. Wishing you all the best Carol. Thank you.  -  Elaine Capes

Resource Sharing
Save the date and stay tuned for details!

Volunteer Dufferin is working with the Career Education Council to participate in a wonderful event on April 17th, during National Volunteer Week.

The event is Career Pathways Dufferin, a one-stop career exploration and community connections event for grade 8 students. An anticipated 1200 students and their teachers will attend, and our focus will be to spotlight the importance of volunteering, and the opportunities available for young people to volunteer in our community.

We hope to find a sponsor for the Community Connections room so that our Volunteer Dufferin/DC Moves members will be able to participate for free. Space will be limited, so stay tuned for details.

And if you know of a business or organization who'd like to sponsor the Community Connections room, please contact Nichole at careered.council@ugdsb.on.ca
