Greetings!
The TMC is thrilled to welcome the
Huddersfield Choral Society from England to Toronto in June for a concert featuring many of the greats of English cathedral music. The concert will be at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church on Sunday, June 4 at 4 pm. Tickets are $35 ($20 VoxTix for those 30 years old and under).
During the concert you'll hear the Huddersfield Choral Society, the TMC, and the two choirs joined together.
Huddersfield, founded in 1836 and recognized as one of the UK’s leading choral societies, will perform works from their recently released CD,
Anthem: Great British Hymns & Choral Works. Enjoy Parry's
My Soul, There is a Country; Elgar's
Ave Verum Corpus, Stainer's
God so Loved the World, and Vaughan Williams'
O How Amiable.
The TMC will sing Tavener's
Song for Athene and Willan's
In the Heavenly Kingdom among other works. The Choir will also premiere the winning composition from the TMC's 2016 Choral Composition Competition, Elizabeth Ekholm's
Prayer of St. Francis.
The highlight of the concert will be the two historic choirs coming together, accompanied by the mighty Yorkminster Park organ, to perform Handel's
Z
adok the Priest; Parry's
I was Glad; Mendelssohn's
Li
ft thine eyes and
He watching over Israel; and Gowers'
Viri Galilae.
We hope to see you at the concert.
Sincerely,
Anne Longmore, TMC Director of Marketing
