Teacher Highlight

Total years teaching - 31 @ EDW, 23 years

I began my teaching career as a part-time music teacher at St. Philomena in Labadieville. While there, an opportunity for full-time employment presented itself at the Thibodaux State School as a Music Therapist. My three years there were so enjoyable and rewarding. I became acquainted with the principal of the school there, and she asked if I would like to have a teaching position in Assumption Parish in which her husband was superintendent. I applied, got the job, went back to night school, and taught at Labadieville Middle for 7 years. In 1994, I truly believe that God was calling me to change my life's course.  On a whim, I applied at E.D. White. When Brother Ronald called me to tell me I got the job, I hung up the phone and cried tears of joy. Obviously, this is where I belong. My tenure here has been filled with many wonderful memories of musicals and choir competitions, field trips to New Orleans filled with ghostly tales, rewarding English classes in which writing was the focus, and so much more! I have learned so much from the students I have taught, and still keep in touch with many of them today. I am blessed to work in such a faith-filled environment, which has helped me on my faith journey. Using the words of the famous author William Arthur Ward, "Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings." I am truly grateful to be here.
