"Persevere with passion. Lead with kindness."
January 2, 2018

Dear Sweeny Families,

Welcome back Sweeny Tigers! We hope that your family had a wonderful holiday break! As we embrace 2018, we are going to have a ONE word focus at Sweeny. Today each staff member was asked to record ONE word that would be the driver for them for 2018. This word will help each person create a vision for the year. Tomorrow we will begin that process with our students. We encourage each Sweeny family to have a discussion at home about what the ONE word will be that will drive your family in 2018. We would love to see a picture of your family with your word. Please email pictures to [email protected]

We look forward to 2018 with your family. As always, if there is anything we can do to serve you, please contact us by phone or email.

Calling all Watch Dog Heroes

With the start of the new year, we are looking for more Watch Dog Hero volunteers! We would love to have you volunteer for a day, half a day, or whatever works best for your schedule! This is a great opportunity for positive male role models to make an impact in the lives of our Sweeny students and to provide an extra set of eyes during the school day. If you would like to volunteer or have questions about the Watch Dog Hero program, please call the office at 732-3670.

Please join us for our upcoming Watch Dog Heroes Breakfast in February!

Think Win Win

I n December, students learned about Habit 4, Think Win Win. This habit refers to the idea of working together so everyone has a positive outcome. Think win-win helps people solve problems where everyone sees a benefit. It is about working together to reach a compromise. Win-win sees life as a cooperative arena, not a competitive one. Win-win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all interactions.

At home, you can discuss with your students how they can think win-win in situations. Also, encourage win-win solutions to sibling disputes at home. Don't always be the mediator; let them work out a solution and be sure to praise them when they do.
