Sign up for the Citizens Fire Academy
Johns Creek residents can get a detailed look at how their fire department operates when the Johns Creek Fire Department (JCFD) launches its next Citizens Fire Academy, Feb. 20, 2018.

During the course, participants will learn about JCFD operations, fire tactics, and strategies and aspects of fire prevention and investigation techniques. Sign up today!


 
JCFD offers CPR certification class Jan. 20
The Johns Creek Fire Department is offering both CPR/AED and opiate awareness training to Johns Creek residents on Saturday, Jan. 20 at City Hall, 10700 Abbotts Bridge Road, Suite 190.

Those interested can sign up for the 8 a.m. class or 11 a.m. class. The classes hold up to 20 people.

Sign up for H.E.A.T. program
H.E.A.T. (Hometown Emergency Action Teams) is a partnership between the citizens of Johns Creek and the Johns Creek Fire Department.

The Fire Marshal's Office operates H.E.A.T., providing citizens with the real world training to prepare for emergency and disaster situations. 

H.E.A.T. training is customized to meet the unique needs of participants. Training ranges from comprehensive skills for citizen response teams working with Emergency Services to fire extinguisher and CPR training for small businesses.


 
JCFD raises $4,300 for GA Firefighters Burn Foundation
The Johns Creek Fire Department raised more than $4,300 for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation at its annual fundraiser at Emory Johns Creek Hospital in December.  The department cooked and sold barbecue pork during the hospital's "Night of Lights" event Dec. 1. Thanks to all who contributed to the event's success!
 
Stay safe, warm when heating this winter
Heating equipment accounted for 16% of all reported home fires from 2009-2013, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

If you use space heaters and other heating sources, please review some tips via the NFPA's website.

Spring Forward! Change alarm batteries March 11
Don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour when Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 11. It's also a great time to check your smoke alarm battery and carbon monoxide detector battery, as many need replacing every six months.

Check the manufacturer date of your smoke alarms while changing your batteries. It is recommended that you replace your smoke alarms every 10 years. You can find the manufacturer date on the bottom side of the detector, usually on a sticker, located near the battery compartment.
 
Request car seat installation assistance from JCFD
The Johns Creek Fire Department offers Child Passenger Safety Education to parents and caregivers. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians  do not perform the installation of car seats.

Technicians will demonstrate and educate parents and caregivers on the proper installation of the child restraint. To request assistance, please fill out this online form .
 
Visit fire stations, request firefighter visits
Have you ever visited a Johns Creek fire station? Request a tour to get a behind-the-scenes look at fire operations!

And, if you'd like the JCFD to stop by your child's birthday party, speak to your employees about fire safety or provide an honor guard, you can request a firefighter visits online.
