LICKING COUNTY RECORDS BOTH NEW PEAK IN TOTAL EMPLOYMENT, LOWEST POST-RECESSION UNEMPLOYMENT LEVEL

November figures released by Ohio's Bureau of Labor Market Information contain more holiday cheer for Licking County businesses, residents, and investors. Licking County has - again - recorded a new "high" level for Total Employment (82,000). Additionally, the Total Unemployment (3,400) is at its lowest level since at least January, 2008.
The November Unemployment Rate (4.0%) is the lowest level since October, 2001. These are results - and opportunities for our neighbors and our community - of which we should all be proud. At the same time, we remain strategically located within a region that affords an available workforce of approximately 50,000 people.
These figures, more than many other sets of data, speak directly to the strength of our local economy and workforce. They reflect both the strength and growth of local employers (Total Employment), as well as the quality of our community's workforce. The fact that both figures are at historic levels - while our Total Civilian Labor Force is near historic highs - speaks to the many successful collaborations and opportunities available in Licking County.
