Happy New Year 2018!

A Note From Pastor Linda

"We've been meaning to do that- but we don't know where to begin."
~A New Year's Resolution

Dear Friends,

As we enter 2018, I have an important question to ask you: Do you have all your life-affairs in order? Do those closest to you know your wishes about end of life decisions? Is your will up to date? Does someone close to you know where all your important legacy paperwork resides- bank accounts, life insurance policies, wills, advance care directives and more?
Here is an opportunity that you do not want to miss:

Adult Education Series- January 2018
Getting Your Affairs in Order: Faithfully Facing Dying and Celebrating LIFE!
 Ps 90:12 - Teach us to number our days so we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Plan for the future! No one ever plans on being sick or disabled. Yet, it is this kind of planning that can make all the difference in an emergency.   Want to be sure all your affairs are in order- but not sure where to begin? Start here- Wednesdays at Hosanna from 6:30-7:30pm
January 10: Befriender Sponsored Symposium on Hospice- what is it and how can it be helpful?
January 17: Sr. Annette Langdon- from Fairview Health on Advance Care Directives
January 24: Scott Mueller- from Mueller Memorial Funeral and Cremations Services
January 31: Rob Collins- from Collins Law Office specializing in estate planning and elder care

This is an easy thing to put off- so let's do this together. Invite your family and begin the conversation! Share this invitation with friends. This is not just for your parents or grandparents- it is for everyone!

Grace and peace, love and joy and hope as we enter 2018!
 ~Pastor Linda

Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger
New Bremen, Minnesota, 1961. The Twins were playing their debut season and ice-cold root beers were selling out at the soda counter. It was a time of innocence and hope for a country with a new, young president. But for thirteen-year-old Frank Drum it was a grim summer in which death visited frequently and assumed many forms. Accident. Nature. Suicide. Murder.
Discussion date:  January 8 at 7pm

Wednesday, January 10, 2017

On Wednesday, January 10 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm the Befrienders Group will be conducting a training on Hospice Care. Hospice Care is designed to provide specialized support and comfort during an advanced illness. The purpose of this training session is to help clarify the patient services that Hospice care offers so that you and your loved ones can benefit from hospice care.
Here are a few facts you may not know about Hospice:
  • The earlier you receive Hospice care, the more opportunity there is to stabilize medical conditions;
  • Hospice care can be paid for by Medicare, Medicaid or most insurance ;
  • While in Hospice care you may choose to continue aggressive treatments for the purpose of symptom management
