Developing Melodies® Music Corner

Music is such an important aspect here at Katie's Kids!
We believe music is an essential part of play and helps with growth and development of a child. Music is not only enjoyable for a child but it's a core function for brain development. The first 12 months of a child is critical for brain development and having music therapy can help with the response and process of brain growth. Music also taps into emotions, improves our attention skills, and enhances learning. We are a proud supporter of music therapy and enjoy watching what music does for our kiddos emotionally, physically, and cognitively!  We love having Ms. Janel here at Katie's Kids to encourage play and growth through music and rhythm!

Loose Parts Donations -

Our Focus this Month:

Keep track of all of those extra parts. We can use them here!
        • Plastic Bottles
        • Paper Towel Rolls
        • Buttons

We, at Katie's Kids, would like to keep utilizing loose parts in our classrooms throughout the year.  Therefore, we are inviting parents and families that are interested to keep the supplies coming!  If you choose to donate you can drop the materials off at the front desk at any time!

Be sure to look through our center for how the loose parts are being used within the curriculum!

Thank you in advance for your donations, we look forward to seeing the creativity that stems from all of the materials!

"It is encouraging the wonder and possibilities that can only come from a child and his innate desire to explore the world around them."

"It is cultivating a strong relationship with my child through learning and play and being active in the process we create together. "

Getting Healthier...
At Katie's Kids Learning Center, we are committed to providing the best possible nutrition to you and your family.  We want to keep you updated about the healthy changes we are making on our menu to promote nutrition and wellness at our center.  The following recipe is now being offered as snack at our center:

Title : Parmesan Zucchini Chips

Ingredients:
  • 2 medium zucchinis, sliced into 1/8" rounds
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper
  • 1.5 cups of freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Hidden Valley Simply Ranch, for dipping
Directions:
  1. Preheat over to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Line a metal baking sheet with parchment paper or foil
    1. If using foil, spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray)
  3. Slice zucchini into thin slices
  4. Optional step: lay out on a paper towel to dry for 20 minutes. Place another paper towel on top of the zucchini slices and press lightly. This will help remove some moisture which will help the zucchini crisp a little more.
  5. Arrange zucchini in a single later on the prepared baking sheet. It's okay if they are touching as they will shrink during baking. Place about a teaspoon of freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top of each slice.
  6. Bake for 20 - 22 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  7. Cool for a few minutes before transferring to a plate.
  8. Serve with Hidden Valley Simply Ranch for dipping.
