State Asks Physicians to Keep Eye out for Measles, Encourage Vaccination
The Minnesota Department of Health is asking physicians to be on the look-out for potential cases of measles and help make sure as many Minnesota children as possible are vaccinated. Read more here
AMA Sends Letter Opposing AHCA Amendment
The AMA sent a letter to U.S. House of Representative leadership earlier today urging them to oppose the MacArthur amendment to the American Health Care Act because it fails to address the shortcomings of the ACA replacement legislation. In particular, the AMA opposes the amendment's call for allowing health status underwriting that could make coverage unaffordable to patients with preexisting conditions. The AMA continues to ask Congress to engage in a bipartisan dialogue with stakeholders to develop policies that enhance coverage, choice and availability.
Meiches Stepping Down as MMA CEO
After nearly 15 years at the helm of the MMA, Robert Meiches, MD, MBA, is resigning as CEO to pursue other professional opportunities. Read more here
MN Physicians Encouraged to Contact Lawmakers to Protect Reimbursement Rates
The MMA sent out an Action Alert on April 25 to members urging them to contact their state representative and senator to oppose further cuts to physician reimbursement rates for those with patients in Minnesota's public programs.
