Tree Trimming
Tree trimming crews will be in the area represented on this map to cut back vegetation touching or too close to power lines. If you see trees that need to be trimmed within this area of Nixa (East of 160 but West of Hightower and South of Scott Wayne but North of Hwy 14/Mt. Vernon Street) please call the City Tree Department: 983-3000. Crews will be working this area for the next few months. If you have trees touching power lines in a back yard, please call to set up a time that would be best for you for a crew to come. We rotate which area of town the crews focus on each Spring/Summer. So if you live in a different area of town and see trees touching power lines, you can still call the tree department to report it, but right now we are focused on the area in this map.  Tree Trimming Map Spring 2017

Exceptional city employees
In April, City Council honored 3 city employees as part of the first ever Council Awards of Excellence. These quarterly awards were established to recognize outstanding performance by city staff.

The City of Nixa is truly blessed to have an amazingly talented staff who also win state and national level awards for being the best at what they do in service of our small town. Congratulations to all these exemplary city employees!

Wendi Buckmaster:
Council Award of Excellence

Wendi is the Police Department Administrative Assistant. She was nominated for this award because of her continuous pursuit of excellence in the performance of her job. An example of this professional quality is demonstrated in her M.U.L.E.S. administration. Wendi's performance year after year has received perfect M.U.L.E.S. audits. In addition, she has received recognition for her administration of the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR). Year after year, she has accomplished perfect audits.
This recognition is not just from her peers. The Highway Patrol auditor also recognizes her exceptional quality of workmanship and the efforts that Wendi contributes. As a direct result of her efforts and error free achievements, our Police Department was recommended to the Department of Justice to become a test agency for the new crime responding system (NIBRS). This recommendation has provided the Police Department the opportunity of applying for and receipt of an $80,000 grant for the conversion from UCR to NIBRS.

Jenni Gerhauser:
Honorable Mention
Council Award of Excellence

Jenni works in the Finance Department. She was nominated for consideration of this award due to her exceptional performance as a team player. This observable behavior is most noticeable in her willingness to put forth the effort to assist others in ordering supplies, setting up the city's Amazon business account and vendor verification. She is extremely conscientious in product pricing and opportunities, such as product rebate programs, which saves the city money. It is her work ethic, efficiency, effectiveness and team work performance which exemplify this organization's expected qualities.

Katie Buford:
Council Innovation Award

Katie is the Assistant Director of the Parks Department. She was nominated to receive this award as a direct result of her development of the City's Welcome Packet. This award recognizes her contribution towards making a modification to or creating a new procedure, idea, process or product that effectively increases the city's efficiency in its operations, public service and substantially improves cost savings. It was through Katie's efforts in the creation of this Welcome Packet that she literally met every single criteria for this award. It is a brand new product created by Katie. It is an extremely effective document in that it gives our customers a first impression of what our extraordinary city represents. It was accomplished efficiently in that she did this in-house; the city did not have to hire a marketing or publishing company, saving a substantial amount of monies. This document also truly reflects who Katie is. Her talents and professional contribution to this organization are assets that make us who we are.

Purchasing Manager of the Year

Congratulations to Nixa Purchasing Manager
Mary Tronnes ! The Missouri Association of Public Purchasing recognized Mary as Purchasing Manager of the Year for a small government entity because of her outstanding performance. Mary does a great job ensuring the city finds the best price for products and services as part of the finance team dedicated to spending tax dollars wisely for the city.

Reliable Electricity

Nixa Utilities is being recognized with the Certificate of Excellence in Reliability from the American Public Power Association. It's SHOCKING how good our
electrical   workers are at getting the power turned back on!

Nixa Utilities average outage time for 2016 = 14 minutes

National average outage time (all utilities/types) = 132 minutes

Operator of the Year

Congratulations to Stuart Venable, Nixa's Water Quality Assistant Superintendent for Wastewater, on being named "Operator of the Year - Small Facility" by the Missouri Water Environment Association!
Stuart says this really isn't an individual award but a reflection on how fortunate Nixa is to have great supervisors and staff committed to returning clean water to the recreational waters of the Finley River, James River, and Table Rock Lake.
