"The Girl Scout Gold Award is the power of one girl."
-GS First Class Alumnae & Gold Award Adviser Mary Ellen Hughes

Congrats to the 42 Gold Award Girl Scouts who showed us all the power of a single girl at our annual Inspire a Girl Ceremony & Expo on April 1, 2017. Over 1,000 attendees got hands-on experiences with our Community Partners, learned about Girl Scouts and saw Gold Award projects. Watch how brightly girls were shining in our wrap-up video here!

Thanks to the supporters like you who make investments in girls, amazing things are happening. From building a library in an orphanage in Guatemala to creating a website for shelter dogs to helping Alzheimer patients with memory activities, girls are making real change. Your investment has a ripple effect that not only provides critical programming for girls that develops life skills, it helps girls complete inspiring service projects that make our communities better.

To everyone who made Inspire a Girl and all our Girl Scouting programs possible each year - THANK YOU!

Going Gold for Orphans in Uganda!

When it comes to making BIG change, Girl Scouts know that it starts with just one girl deciding to make a difference. Meet 2017 Gold Award Girl Scout, Hayley Nitz. This inspiring Girl Scout learned about the poverty crisis in Uganda and decided to help by creating educational toys for orphans, in an effort to combat a core problem that leads to poverty, a lack of education.

Because of your support, Hayley has learned, through Girl Scouts, that taking action is the first step to making change. Hayley educated volunteers on the crisis and with their help, created 642 educational toys for the Amani Baby Cottage in Uganda. In December 2016, she traveled to Uganda and delivered the toys and served as a volunteer. What an inspiring way to take action on a global scale. Read more about Hayley on our blog.
THANK YOU for Investing in G.I.R.L.s!

Girls are the greatest untapped resource we have for the future and investing in them today creates a better tomorrow.  We want to give a special shout out to some of the awesome donors who inspire girls year round by supporting Inspire a Girl and other girl programming! These individuals and organizations know that by investing in girls when they're young, you're not only changing the life of a girl, you're bettering a community. As donor Denise Mills says, "It just made sense to give because Girl Scouts can impact a bigger social change the lives of adult women by building courage, confidence and character in them as girls."

Community Partners Create Opportunities for Girls!

Football, bugs and electricity - oh, my! These are not typically things society equates with girls, but our Girl Scouts certainly loved every second of interaction they had with community partners at Inspire a Girl. The Kansas City Chiefs had a football run, the Kansas City Zoo brought critters to pet, Google Fiber had STEM activities, Natural Groceries had healthy snacks and Mesner Puppets encouraged creative play...and that's just a few!

We want to give a huge shout out to all the incredible community partners that support Girl Scouts all year long. If your company is interested in creating opportunities for girls or through corporate giving, contact Vanessa Van Goethem-Piela, VP of Philanthropy ( vvangoethempiela@gsksmo.org)!
April Showers Grow Daisy Flowers

Giving to Girl Scouts has never been so rewarding! As a special incentive this year, Girl Scout parents/caregivers who join Daisy's Circle at the $25/mo or above level during our "April Showers Grow Daisy Flowers" campaign (April 1 - May 15) AND re-register their daughter for Girl Scouts, can receive a $25 incentive in June!

By joining Daisy's Circle, you're helping create the incredible programming and opportunities that have helped your Girl Scout grow. As Girl Scout Cadette and Daisy's Circle member, Maddie Gaines said, "I [joined] Daisy Circle because I know that it will help other girls in Kansas City have experiences they might not have if we didn't have Girl Scouts."
