This Sunday April 30—Anglican & Episcopal Spiritual Writers - Madeleine L'engle
Re-Scheduled from last month
After Both Services  (Presenter—Jayne Bray)
Well known for her writings for young adults - " A Wrinkle in Time", and many others, L'Engle was also an Episcopalian and writer on spirituality. Her books were once banned from Christian bookstores and schools (!) because of her beliefs in universal salvation - that all will be saved, not just those who have found Christianity - "all the little, lost ones". Jayne Bray will be helping us get to know Madeleine better.
Fruit-Sharing for Outreach at St Francis
In conjunction with Los Angeles Diocese ‘ Seeds of Hope ’.
  • Next Saturday, May 6, from 9:00am-Noon. 5 new fruit trees are to be planted at St Francis! Join us for a fun, short work day to help planting.
  • Do you have surplus garden fruit that you would like to share?  You will soon be able to bring fruit to church for donation to the outreach causes we support - such as St Luke's, Mama Hill's Help. We will even help you pick your produce!

For more, contact our Seeds of Hope Co-Chairs,  John Henebry and Hank Gatlin.

Dawn Unity Group Panel:  “Ethics and Religion”
Next Tuesday,  May 2, 7:30 pm
The Dawn Unity Group will conclude the 16th year of its Interfaith Discovery Series with “Ethics and Religion”. There is concern that ethics is losing its importance in American life and that this is related to the decline in the attendance numbers of today’s religious congregations. Where will future generations learn ethics as this continues? We already expect too much of the schools, and some public figures serve as questionable examples.  For questions call 310 833-7008.
In Memoriam - The Rev. Canon Deborah Dunn
We are sad to announce the passing of The Rev. Canon Deborah Dunn, Rector of St. Peter's, Santa Maria, who was also an assistant at St. Francis between 1991 and 1992. Full details, including the date and time of her requiem Eucharist this Friday.
