There is still time to join Donna & Chris in Santa Fe July 11-16, 2017.  This is our seventh year leading bridge players to Santa Fe for five nights and four days of a complete immersion of studying bridge.  We have breakfast Q&A, two-hour morning lessons (fundamental and Intermediate + levels) and afternoon mini duplicates.  There are lots of individuals who attend so partners are always available.  See below for more details.

Mother's Day is around the corner!  The BAND Team is putting together special treats for our mothers on Sunday, May 14th.  Mark your calendars and plan on spending the afternoon at BAND starting at 1:30pm.

BAND Newbie Specialist Sharon Lux works tirelessly on partnerships for our 49er pairs.  Just let her know when you would like to play and she will make all of the arrangements for you.

If you are wanting to take your game to the next level, BAND offers four levels of courses.  I will be happy to help you design your course plan. ... See my tip below! Never been one to learn things in a classroom atmosphere, the BAND Instructors offer private playing lessons for those that learn through doing.

Thank you for making BAND your home for bridge!

Tips with Donna

The single biggest obstacle to enjoying this amazing game to its fullest is FRUSTRATION! Particularly in the early years of play.  Don't get me wrong, the frustration sticks with you even at my level but you learn coping mechanisms to enjoy the successes and ignore the failures.

Mistakes are part of the game.  In fact, Bob Hamman who was the #1 player for over two decades says he makes at least 18 errors a session (26 hands).  Think about that one!

To reduce the frustration level, try looking at each hand as an adventure rather than a success and/or failure.  The good news is that there is always another bridge hand to play!

For those of us who are rule bound, the notrump contract creates a high level of anxiety which then leads to ... frustration.  Over the years, I have helped countless bridge players work through these feelings.  You are not alone.  The key is to create a line of attack as declarer and stay focused on the technique rather than the fact that you could lose control and never be on lead again!  If this sounds familiar, I will be happy to help you organize a game plan!
