Dear Neighbor,
The 18th District Police sent an updated community alert
about
burglaries from unlocked garages in the neighborhood.
- 300 block of West Concord Place, early evening (2nd Ward)
- 1900 block of North Cleveland Ave, late evening to early morning
-
1600 block of North Bissell St, late evening to early morning hours.
- 1800 block of North Orleans St, early afternoon hours.
- 400 block of West North Ave, morning(2nd Ward)
- 200 block of West Scott St, Monday evening. (2nd Ward)
Surveillance video shows one offender, a male African-American wearing a black hat, black jacket with red lettering, blue jeans, and black gym shoes. Other video shows a male African-American offender seen wearing a black White Sox cap, black hooded sweatshirt, and black pants. The offender is seen loading a bicycle into a grey Chevy Impala.

Police say simple measures can cut the burglary rate in half:
- Lock your house, garage and car. Close windows when you are gone.
- Install an effective deadbolt on your garage door or your back porch.
- If you are a victim, do not touch anything. Call police.
- Keep a record of property serial numbers.
- Call 911 immediately with a detailed description of suspicious activity.

I'm pleased to report that our call for more athletic fields in the Industrial Corridor is joined by my colleague Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd) and more community groups and organizations including
Wicker Park Committee and
Chicago Sport and Social Club, representing more than 100,000 young adults who compete in leagues across the city.
