4th Grade to Sacramento
Last Wednesday, 23 of our 4th grade students embarked on a three-day journey to Sacramento and San Francisco for an educational field trip to experience California history. With stops including the majestic state capitol building, Sutter's Fort, and the James Marshall Gold Discovery Site, students were able to peek into armories, sit in the senate chambers, and pan for gold alongside the American River. Students spent two days in Sacramento and finished off their trip in San Francisco with visits to the acclaimed California Academy of Sciences Museum, a trip to Chinatown, and a tour of the infamous Alcatraz Island. An amazing tour guide accompanied our students and teachers, explaining in great detail the landscape, regions, and special features of our great state. There were a few fun surprises that our students enjoyed that made this experience truly special. This trip provided a great opportunity for students and parents to learn together while making memories that last a lifetime. We were fortunate to visit these two cities and learn about our state history.

Faculty Spotlight - Jessica Winslow
Jessica Winslow began her time at Fairmont as a long term guest teacher. She was so amazing in the classroom, she was offered a full time teaching position at our North Tustin campus! We are so excited to have her here as a part of our faculty. Mrs. Winslow received her BA and teaching credential at Cal State Long Beach where she received a full ride academic scholarship for being the valedictorian of her high school graduating class. She loves our students' many interests and how many incredible experiences they have to make them so well rounded at a very young age. She loves to see them develop their sense of humor over the course of the school year.

When she is not teaching she spends time with her three-year-old son, Dean, and plays board games with friends and family. They have a family collection of over 80 board games! Mrs. Winslow and her husband also love to swing dance,  but have not been much since the addition to their family three years ago.

Video Games Live Co-Creator Speaks to Students
Tommy Tallarico spoke with over 100 Fairmont Prep students in the International Business Program (IBP) and Visual And Performing Arts (VAPA) department on Friday, May 5. He shared his life story of being a small town boy and then growing up to make millions through following his combined passions of music and video games. Mr. Tallarico is the founder and co-creator of Video Games Live, an international concert series that showcases music from well-known video games. When he was just 21 years old he started out as a video game tester and then became a composer and musician with over 250 video game credits to his name. Mr. Tallarico encouraged our students to follow their passion, build relational networks, and say "yes" to opportunities.

Re-Enrollment
There are just a few families left who haven't re-enrolled. If you are one of those families, please let Mrs. Jansen know when to expect your child's contract to ensure we have the space for you. Many of our grades are at capacity and our phone is constantly ringing with calls from new families.
