FBLA Competes at State
STEM's FBLA Team: Erast Davidjuk, Dillon Schaeffer, Aatif Jiwani, and Sebastian Del Barco

Last week, 4 students from our FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) team participated in the State Conference in Vail. After competing in the district competition in early February, these 4 students qualified to compete at the state competition. Congratulations to Aatif, who placed 1st in the Coding and Programming competition, and Dillon who placed 2nd in Computer Problem Solving! Thank you to Karen Ramon for leading this group.

Congratulations to TSA T.E.A.M.S.

Congratulations to our  TSA TEAMS  participants! Our 9th/10th grade teams placed 1st in the state. For  the Design Build part of the competition, our STEM 9th-10th grade team got the second highest score in the nation, one other team from Illinois got 0.99 points higher, out of 80 possible points. Our 11th/12th grade team placed 2nd. This means that both teams qualify to compete at the national conference in June!

Music Technology Camp
July 10th-14th or July 17th-21st

This program is based on STEM School's highly successful middle school Music Production program. It is intended for students with some experience of playing an instrument, such as piano, guitar, singing or band/orchestra. This course allows our participants to learn music composing skills using technology or enhance their own instrumental/vocal talents with technology. Click HERE to learn more.

Drama Camp
June 12th-16th

The class will provide basic knowledge of acting techniques and stage movement to develop your child's imagination, creativity and confidence.  Every day, campers rotate through core classes in voice, acting, and dance, along with an exciting array of workshops, including sketch comedy, stage crafts, and more! Wacky Weather Camp
June 5th to 9th

Become a Colorado weather forecaster in this interactive summer camp! Colorado has some of the most extreme weather on Earth!  Why are there up to 85 degree differences on winter days between record highs and lows? How does moisture from the Gulf of Mexico create our July monsoon season?  Learn how a nearby county in Colorado has the highest number of tornadoes each year...and learn the ways of storm chasers.  IT'S JUNE and the highest month for reported severe storms.  If you are in 3rd-8th grade, join us this summer for some wacky weather adventure! Learn more and sign up  HERE.


Decoder Squads: Encryption and CyberSecurity
June 5th-9th

This camp will teach students basics about Cyber Security. It will also teach them how to protect different operating systems from theft or damage to the software, hardware or information on them. We will also cover discussions on cybercrime and how our daily life and national security depends on a stable, safe, and resilient cyberspace. Students will learn to encrypt messages and information. They will be working in groups for problem-solving, collaboration, and team skillsLearn more about the camp and register  HERE.


Beginner Lego Robotics
June 5th-9th

In this week-long summer camp, students will build a basic EV3 robot to start the class.  Building the robot will provide the students with basic mechanical engineering knowledge to include designing a solid well-balanced structure.  After all programming is mastered, the students will build a custom robot designed by them! They will be challenged to compete against other students using their advanced programming skills. Learn more and sign up  HERE.

Spartan Space Sciences Pong-SAT Camp
July 10th to July 21st

In this 2-week-long camp, students will engineer a completely self-contained flight balloon carrying Pong-SAT experiments, and experiment small enough to fit either inside and/or on the outside of a ping pong ball. The camp will be followed by an exciting launch day on July 22nd, launching their payload east of Denver for an all-day adventure of chasing the balloon from launch to landing using amateur radio equipment that reports online positions to smart phones. Mentor Spotlight
Paree Gregg 

Paree became connected to STEM four years ago with a desire to mentor robotics teams in the area. Since that time, she has led robotics camps each summer, taught a Lego Robotics course at the School, and mentored our FLL and FTC teams. "I became involved with teaching summer camps at STEM because of the enthusiasm that I see in kids when they are exposed to robots. It is very rewarding for me to watch them learn and grow intellectually by being innovative with their robot designs," she says.

"My favorite part of being a mentor is observing the joy and excitement in the students when they have built a robot and programmed it. Watching the robot move for the first time thrills and stimulates them to learn more."

In addition to helping out at STEM, Paree enjoys camping and skiing with her husband and two sons, reading a good book, and learning more about robotics. She has enjoyed coaching FIRST teams for several years.

"STEM kids all seem to have a thirst for learning and want to expand their knowledge in math and science. This makes teaching at STEM a challenging and rewarding experience" says Paree.
