Elementary Schools Celebrate Earth Month 

Elementary schools have woven Earth Month into lessons on responsibility as well as research skills. 

Students at Katonah Elementary School have taken the 10% Challenge. Increase Miller Elementary School students learned about the earth from the inside out. Children at Meadow Pond Elementary School attended a Town Meeting led by fifth grade ambassadors about responsible decision making. 


Environmental Club Digs into New Edible Garden

John Jay Middle School's Environmental Club hosted an afternoon in the school's new edible garden.The mint, oregano, and parsley from this garden were used in Home and Careers classes this past winter. 

The PTO designed and planted this garden last summer using the beds inherited from Lewisboro Elementary. 

"The garden is in its first year and has lots of potential," said Mrs. Brady, Home and Careers teacher.

Rewiring Teens to Compost 

John Jay High School's Sustainability Club launched a campaign to rewire students to sort their cafeteria waste using a pledge, a video featuring testimonials from the John Jay community . . . and Earth Cookies. 

This is Project Create, an initiative that is in the running for a Greenlight Award from Bedford 2020.


Learning Cafe on May 9 

You are invited to attend KLSD's Learning Cafe on May 9, from 7 - 9 p.m. at JJMS's dining room.

"This is an evening of conversation around the Katonah-Lewisboro Learning Commitment  - an aspirational statement intended to define the type of learning environment we believe will be most meaningful, supportive, and relevant to our students now and into the future," said Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools.
