Kami Farr Receives CASDA Friends of Education Award

Kami Farr, the LLCS Teacher Assistant in K-6 classrooms, is a 2016-2017 Friends of Education Award Recipient.   She is being honored for her dedication and commitment to our school and our students.

In addition to her classroom work,  Ms. Farr is the schools CDOS representative, Foster Grandparent Coordinator, Shared Decision Making Committee member, International Student Host Parent, past PTSO president and an active and engaged parent of two of our students.

The award will be presented at the Capital Area School Development Association Friends of Education Dinner tonight.

Congratulations!
Elizabeth Noonan is February's Second Mile Award Recipient

Elizabeth Noonan has one of the most unique schedules at LLCS and she faces it head on with enthusiasm, organization, professionalism, and a smile. In addition to her contributions to the Special Education Department, 5th grade ELA and Reading, Pre-Kindergarten, and the K-6 team, she has recently taken on stewarding an even younger group of students into our school - our preschoolers - in a program that she worked to establish with Kristin Delehanty.  Her flexibility, creativity, and willingness to try new adventures is most appreciated.

International Student Event in January and Celtic Day in March
International students from LLCS and neighboring schools gathered for an after school event on Jan. 30, hosted by the LLCS Cultural Committee.  The event helped students connect with one another and featured homemade food from the students' home countries and the U.S., plus an exchange of ideas.

Kami Farr and Katarina Ivanova, the Russian student hosted by the Farr family.

On March 3, LLCS will hold another event from the Culture Committee - Celtic Day.  There will be a full day of activities at our school, all of which celebrate Ireland.  In addition to Highland Games in gym class and Celtic artwork in art class, students will be treated to workshops with author Bairbre McCarthy and entertained at a school-wide assembly by the Police Pipes and Drums of Plattsburgh.  This event is open to the community.
