This week is Teacher Appreciation Week -- a time for the entire DPS community to say "thank you" to our educators and honor them for the amazing work they do every day.
We know our teachers are at the forefront of our kids' education, and they are the greatest resource in helping us reach our vision, Every Child Succeeds. This week, we've partnered with the community to share
discounts and
giveaways with our educators, and created teacher feature
videos and arranged
special visits. But in the end, we know the most meaningful "thank you" a teacher can receive is one from their own student. And here are just a few of the many words of thanks we've heard from our kids:

Thanks to generous donations from community partners, DPS was able to surprise 60 teachers across our schools with random

Walk and Bike to School Day had Students Rolling and Strolling to Class

On Wednesday, hundreds of
families throughout DPS took a break from their normal traffic routines for
National Walk & Bike to School Day
. Schools around Denver hosted health- and safety-focused celebration, including at
Southmoor Elementary, where families and students rode into school together in their own bike parade.
Lincoln Elementary hosted
their first "Bike Rodeo" Thursday, when kids cruised through bike obstacle courses and learned the "rules of the road." There was also a helmet decorating station and a student council-run first-aid area.
National Walk & Bike to School Day celebrates the benefits of biking and walking to school, including increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety awareness, traffic congestion, caring for the environment and building connections between families, schools and the community.
