30 Years of Service
The Spring Convention issue of the TRIAD honors four DO's who have served as delegates for their component societies for over 30 years! Shaping policy and serving their profession, these physicians have exhibited dedication to the House of Delegates process that is truly worthy of our gratitude. Each will be honored at this years' House of Delegates.
Outstanding Graduating Senior and Resident of the Year
The MOA's annual awards for Outstanding Graduating Senior and Resident of the Year are announced. Each award will be presented at the Spring Convention and the TRIAD article offers background information on the winners of each award.
DOs Together: The launch of a new Physicians' Organization
The MOA is launching a Physicians' Organization, DOs Together. The organization will give MOA members a voice in leadership and support in what can be an overwhelming number of factors in managing a practice.

Contract Review Presentation and Workshop
The
Women of Excellence and the
Council of Interns and Residents (CIR) will each host a
Contract Review Workshop.
The programs will examine the complexities of physician contracts and provide guidance with contract reviews with
Susan Sanford, Independent Hospital & Health Care Professional. These will be great sessions that can help proactively eliminate contractual problems and provide an ease of mind in terms of employment.

Metro Health Farm Market
One of the most vibrant farm markets in West Michigan returns to the campus of Metro Health - University of Michigan Health for its 12th season beginning Thursday, May 11.
The
Metro Health Farm Market expects to welcome about 35 local vendors on opening day, adding another 20 or so as the weather warms. For the 2017 season, the farm market will be open every Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, May 11 through Oct. 12.
"A healthy community starts with a healthy diet," says Mike Faas, chief executive officer of Metro Health - University of Michigan Health. "Metro Health isn't here just to treat illness. We're here to be a complete wellness resource. Providing access to affordable, healthy food is part of our responsibility to the community."
The Metro Health Farm Market is located on the grounds of Metro Health Hospital, 5900 Byron Center Ave. SW in Wyoming, adjacent to the Village Green.

DO volunteers outside Mosul, Iraq
General surgeon Timothy Burandt, DO, spent two months treating patients at an emergency field hospital.
The DO online magazine from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) details the experience in a Q&A formatted article with Dr. Burandt. The MOA member has returned from his work in Iraq and will attend the 118th Annual Spring Scientific Convention next week.

Hospitals and health systems must invest in their board members to ensure the highest levels of competencies to meet the challenges of a constantly evolving environment. To assist them in ensuring their trustees are well informed and aware of what is involved in governing a healthcare organization today, the Michigan Health & Hospital Association designed a comprehensive educational and training program in governance leadership.
The MHA Excellence in Governance Fellowship is highly collaborative in nature, bringing fellows together in a variety of learning formats, including retreat-like interface, virtual communications and dialogue, and peer learning circles.
