The Arts Access Grant provides up to $1,000 for the presentation of performing, visual, literary, media, or folk arts in communities throughout the state. This grant replaces and expands upon the Division's Community Based Opportunity grant. Applications must be submitted at least six weeks prior to the project start date, and are reviewed as they are received, beginning on July 1 of each year. Organizations that receive General Operating or Project Support from the Division are not eligible to apply. For guidelines and the application, click here.
Arts & Economic Prosperity 5
Americans for the Arts (AFTA) will be soliciting information from nearly 150 arts and cultural organizations in Delaware over the next few months as part of the fifth iteration of its economic impact study, Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 (AEP5).

Conducted by AFTA, the nation's leading non-profit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, the AEP5 study will measure the economic impact of spending by non-profit arts and culture organizations. This report will measure the impact of arts spending on local jobs, income paid to local residents, and revenue generated to local and state governments.

In addition, organizations throughout the state are being asked to distribute and collect audience-intercept surveys to provide information on arts attendees' spending habits, as it impacts local economies. Results of the study will be released in 2017 .
Delaware Poets Laureate Partnership - Delaware Child Review Placement Board
Delaware's Child Placement Review Board is sponsoring a series of summer poetry writing workshops for teens with the Delaware Poets Laureate, also known as the Twin Poets, at several libraries across New Castle County. The two-part workshops will engage the Twin Poets with participants ages 12-17 to develop poems of their own to share at an open mic/poetry slam in August.  "We want to give young people under our purview an opportunity for creative expression particularly during the summer. The partnership with the New Castle County Libraries allowed us to open these workshops to other youth in the community as well," said Kecia Blackson, Executive Director of the Child Placement Review Board. Interested participants must sign up with the hosting library. Click here for the schedule.

Abby Millager
Established Professional, Literature: Playwriting

Abby Millager, a freelance promotional copywriter, is also an active creative writer. She earned Division fellowships in 2009 & 2012 for poetry and nonfiction. Palais Kokoschka, her submission for this year's Fellowship, tells the story of traumatized trophy wife Elisabeth and is set in a 1912 Moravian mansion built by a group of avant garde Viennese artists and craftsmen. Scenes, characters, and dialogue in the play were inspired by the art of Gustav Klimt-and infected with the rebel spirit of Oskar Kokoschka. A free staged reading of the play directed by Carol Van Zoeren will be performed at Chapel Street Playhouse August 12-14. Learn more
Mark your calendars! In addition to their individual appearances, the Fellows will be part of a collective group exhibition at the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover from August 5 - October 22, 2016.

Color Pops 14, 2016,
oil on canvas, 18" x 24"
August
Color Pops , an exhibition of abstract paintings by Su Knoll Horty, will be on view in the Mezzanine Gallery from August 5-26, 2016, with an opening reception on Friday, August 5 from 5-7 p.m. This series of paintings explores fluidity in all its measures: organic form, undulating movement, saturated 'liquid' color, and stylized gestural marks. The resulting 'Color Pops' are an intriguing mix of color and form.

The Mezzanine Gallery is open weekdays from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and is located in the Carvel State Office Building, 820 N. French Street, Wilmington.
The schedule of upcoming artist exhibitions through November 2016 is available  here.
