Today's Announcements      
 
  • What is more fun than playing volleyball? Playing volleyball in the mud!!! Gather a team of 8 people together and compete in a fierce tournament on May 11th. Sign ups are available in the Activities office and are due May 5th. 
  •   Boys' Soccer will be holding workouts and open fields, as well as various camps, all throughout the summer.  Anyone interested in playing soccer next year should see Coach Wittenborn in Room 206-207 as soon as possible to receive a summer calendar and camp forms!
     
  • Bruin Cup is Friday, May 14th at 7:00 pm at the Crossing. For further information:  Bruin Cup Invitation
  • Wonderful Contemporary Issues in Science and Society Students!
     
    Due to a death in Mrs. Graham's family we are in Green Bay for the funeral this week.  We would LOVE to reschedule the meeting with you for collaborating on our course to THURSDAY MAY 4th.  Same time before or after school, same room.  Please plan on giving us ideas via email or messages in our mailbox if you cannot make it.  We are so sorry for the inconvenience!

  • Apply for a spot on the Youth Advisory council by May 5 at 5:00 p.m. Appointments to the YAC will be made at the May 15 City Council meeting. Applicants are welcome to attend the meeting or stream it online. Applicants who are appointed will receive a letter in the mail notifying them. We encourage applicants to attend the recruitment event on Saturday, April 29 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at City Hall in Rooms 1A and 1B to learn more about YAC. 
  • NHS Seniors: All NHS hours due by the end of the day on 5/5 to the google service spreadsheet or Mrs. EuDaly.
  • RBHS Ambassadors serve as representatives of Rock Bridge to new and prospective students, families, and community members, providing building tours and helping new students feel welcome and at home at Rock Bridge.   Students interested in serving as an RBHS Ambassador for the 2017-18 school year, please plan to attend the informational/training meeting on Wednesday, May 3rd at 8:20 a.m. in the Planetarium (current Ambassadors should also plan to attend if you would like to serve again next year).   
  • Young Republican members:  On Thursday, April 27th, elections will take place for new officers for next school year. We will meeting in room 325 at 8:20.  
  • Prom Closet is now available. Victoria is located on the east side of the PAC lobby at the bottom of the ramp.

  • The Senior All Night Party will be held Saturday, May 20th, from 11:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. at the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse.  WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS to make this the best celebration for our seniors!
 
There are two shifts available to work that night, or you can work all night.  10:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m., or 1:30 - 5:00 a.m.  Volunteers are also needed the week before the party.

  • Seniors, Please see Mrs. Davis in the counseling office to request your final transcript.  Schools require the final transcript with ALL your grades including the last semester even if you have already been accepted.  There is no fee for one final transcript sent to your college or university.
  • Seniors, Have you attended Columbia Public Schools continuously since elementary school?  See Mrs. Davis in the counseling office to pick up your cumulative photos.
  • The stadium will remain an active construction site throughout the Summer.  Students and staff must avoid parking along the West side of the South lot.  You don't want to mix your cars in with construction trailers and materials.
  As early as Spring break, the front circle drive will be closed to all    but bus traffic.  Students who ride buses will need to enter/exit  through the East Studies or the Fine Arts 400s hall for the remainder  of the school year. The north side of the building will become our main entrance. As with any construction site, follow signs and  don't cross or move and fences or barriers. 
   
  • Smoothies are for sale again in the Cafeteria on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can use your account or pay cash. They are $3.
  • Parking permits are $10 for April.  
  •   Any vehicle a student parks at RBHS or CACC must be registered. If  your vehicle is not registered, you need to see Darryl Heaton. 
  • Interested in AVID for next year?  Pick up an application from the Counseling Office and return when completed.

Guidance Announcements
  • Prescription Drug Take Back
    Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. @ RBHS (Due to construction, go to north entrance). This effort is undertaken to provide the community with appropriate disposal of their expired, unused or unwanted prescription medications. The benefits of the Take Back event include that these prescription medications do not fall into the hands of our youth where they may be abused or distributed inappropriately. Further, the proper disposal of these medications aids in protecting the environment as it is detrimental especially to ground source water if medications are flushed. 
     
  • ARTivism Workshops are geared towards fans of the arts who like to express their experiences and tell their stories through visual or performing arts. Examples include spoken word, paintings, etc. At the workshops, youth will be provided with resources, services, and mentorship through the University of Missouri, The United Way, and Rock the Community. It is open to all high school students, and refreshments will be provided.The workshops will be held at Mizzou Family Impact Center on Saturday April 29, May 6, and May 13 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. You will perform in front of an audience at the end of May! See Lesley Thalhuber in the Counseling Office for more info.
  • Come help us celebrate our children/teens while raising mental health awareness at the Heroes of Hope Children's Mental Health Awareness Day @ Stephens Lake Park in the Gordon and Collins Shelters on Wednesday, 5/ 3 /201 7 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. The event includes: food; face paint; activities; photo booth, information and lots more. 
      

  • Camp MAGIC
    is a one-day grief retreat form children and teens ages 6-18 who have experienced the death of a loved one. The retreat is on Saturday, June 3rd from 9 am-4 pm in Jefferson City (5840 Rainbow Drive-Binder Park Pavilion). It will help students identify and express their grief through a variety of activities including making memory boxes, readings, releasing butterflied, and more. It's free of charge. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend with their student. Lesley Thalhuber in the Counseling Office has applications if you are interested. 

     
  • JUNIORS - The Better Business Bureau Student of Ethics Award 
    recognizes a high school student who personifies high ethics demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity and academic history. The award will be a $2,500 scholarship that can be applied to your college, university, or career/technical school of choice!  For more information and to apply visit:
  • SENIORS - CPS is partnering with MU Health Care and Columbia College to offer FULL Medical Assistant Scholarships to 20 graduating seniors with a 2.5+ GPA.  This scholarship program will allow you to study online through Columbia College starting in August 2017 and graduate in the Spring of 2018 with 19 credit hours.  While studying you will get paid to work 20 hours per week at MU Health Care and launch your career in the healthcare field!  Students interested in this opportunity should see Mrs. Reed in the Counseling Office by Friday, April 28, 2017.

 


 
  • Sophomores & Juniors - The 2017 Audrey Walton Youth Leadership Conference Sponsored by the Show-Me State Games will be held July 20-22 on the University of Missouri campus.  During the 3-day conference, you will engage in several activities that will encourage you to step up and be a leaders amongst your peers.  All students will participate in both indoor and outdoor team activities.  You will attend a luncheon as well as a dinner banquet where you will have the opportunity to listen to some of the state's outstanding leaders.  For more information and to apply, visit the RB Guidance Summer Enrichment Programs webpage:

  • A+ Students wanting to complete tutor hours this summer must attend one of the following A+ Tutor Training sessions:

  • ATTN GRADUATING SENIORS - MU-College of Education Adventure Club Before & After School Program, located in CPS schools, is currently accepting applications for Summer Site Assistants for the month of June.  Available shifts are 6:40-7:25 a.m. & 2:25-6:00 p.m., M-F for one set of schools and 6:40-8:05a.m. and 3:00-6:00 p.m. at another set of schools. Staff must be high school graduates/GED, 18 years of age or older, and be able to work Monday-Friday during all 4 weeks of programming June 5-29. Starting pay is $8.00.
