Doors Open Denver - THIS Weekend!
|
|
Celebrating 125 Years and A Grand Renovation!
|
Doors Open Denver is a wonderful opportunity for us at St. Barnabas to tell the story of who we are, where we have been and where we are going.
This annual two-day weekend event provides opportunities for residents and visitors to explore our city's high-profile and unique spaces, creating meaningful connections with people at the host sites, to the built environment and promoting quality design.
Come learn about fun facts and check out the interesting history of St. Barnabas. Bring along your friends and invite your neighbors! We're open and tourable Saturday 10am - 4pm and Sunday 11am - 4pm.

The liturgy committee has been working to develop new liturgies to help us all worship God in new and creative ways, and we are excited to begin this Sunday with a liturgy based around the theme of prayer. We will have a theme-based liturgy for each of the six Sundays of Easter, and we pray that each service will help us all create space for a deeper understanding and experience of God.
Please join us this Sunday when Dennis Kennedy will be speaking for the second of this new series.

Environmental Update From Our Kitchen Team
Colorado prides itself on being a green state. However, we do not rank at the top of the list for recycling and composting!
St. Barnabas is trying to up our game - please read how you can help be good stewards of our planet, and look for the proper receptacle to put your cups, plates, etc.
- Coffee cups are all compostable, unless they have a waxy surface, then they are landfill
- The small “plastic” cups we sometimes use for juice or wine are compostable – they are made from cornstarch
- Paper plates we use at some functions, that do not have a slick surface, are compostable
- Cornstarch utensils, like forks, spoons & knives are compostable (plastic ones brought in by others go in the TRASH)
- Food, napkins and paper towels are compostable
- Cardboard with food residue (e.g. pizza or cake boxes) are compostable
- Solo plastic cups are recyclable
- Plastic container with a triangle on it is recyclable
- Plastic bags go in the trash (or recycle them at your grocery store)
- When in Doubt, throw it out (it’s better not to contaminate the recyclables and compostables)
Let’s do our part, as good stewards of our planet, and pay attention to what we do with our waste. Thank you!

Adult Forum Series is UPSTAIRS this Sunday
"Viewing scripture from a LGBTQ perspective" will be presented by Eloise May and Bill Lundgren as part of the Familiar Strangers series on LGBTQ People in the Judeo-Christian community from ancient Israel to Capitol Hill. This session will look at the Biblical passages commonly used to support the condemnation of homosexuality and the shaming of homosexuals. The passages will be placed in historical contexts that offer a different viewpoint. Eloise and Bill will also offer some additional passages from the New Testament that may surprise you. Please note that the forum will meet upstairs in the youth classrooms instead of Grant Hall, to facilitate the Doors Open Denver tours happening below.
Please invite anyone who might be interested. See you Sunday at 11am!
