Living Out Our Calling:
Stewardship and Finance Update

Thank you for your responses to the 2018 Stewardship Campaign. Pledges so far reflect a 6% overall increase in estimated giving for the coming year. We are all so thankful for the community effort to ensure the ministry and mission of the church. If you have not yet pledged, please go to http://www.mipc.org/pledge , or forms are available in the front office.

Mexico Scholarships
Thanks to all of you who gave your second year scholarship to children in Mexico. If you haven't paid your $350 commitment, please send it in when you are able. As always, thank you for your generosity.

Thank You from Leschi
This note is in response to the 40 or so volunteers who planted over 120 plants on Christmas Eve morning, our day of service.

"We have been back to the school for a week and I cannot stop admiring the new plants in the front of the school.  We have received many comments on how beautiful they look and anticipation for what they will look like this spring and after a summer of sun."

Thank you to the team who helped with the project.  Kate said she was so thrilled to see the group and was amazed by the speed at which you worked.

Leschi Needs Sweat Pants
Leschi Elementary School, our mission partner, has asked for our help. Thanks to MIPC for all the sweat pants we have delivered in the past. Mr. Donaldson asked if we could continue to send sweat pants (sizes 4-14). Look for the donation boxes in the hallway.

Donations Needed for YouthCare
Please help us keep YouthCare teens warm and dry.
Have gently-used warm hats, gloves or scarves to share?
And we can always use the following:
New underwear and boxers
New socks
Jeans and sneakers
Sleeping bags
First aid kits
New toiletries
Backpacks
Coats and jackets
Nonperishable foods
Gift cards (Safeway, Fred Meyer, Target, Ross, etc.)

Just pick up something when you are doing your family shopping and bring it on the last Sunday of the month when we Fill-the-Bags, or at anytime during the month to the YouthCare donation box just outside the front office door.  Thank you for your generosity!
MIPC Capital Needs in 2018 and Beyond
In the last year, MIPC has seen a renewed vitality for which we are very grateful. We have a healthy worship life, a strong staff, and a deeply committed volunteer-based leadership.

In addition to the wonderful community, this church has another great asset - the incredible building in which we worship and live out our ministry.

In order to think ahead about how to care well for our facilities, we initiated a capital reserve study done on the entire building of MIPC. This study has helped the Session understand the current needs of the building, as well as what we will need to do to maintain the facility over the next decade and beyond so that it can continue to serve our ministry and mission.

The Session has already identified many of the needs: HVAC systems that are already failing, a flat roof near the end of its life, windows that need to be replaced for safety reasons, carpet that is nearing 20 years old, to name a few. At the same time, as the Session understands its leadership responsibility in this, the Session also understands it doesn't understand everything we need to know.

We need to hear from you.

As you think about our ministry and mission now and in our future, what do you think about our future?

What do you see in the life of the church building that you want to make sure gets attention?

Sanctuary Flowers
Each Sunday, congregation members have the opportunity to provide the beauty of flowers to the sanctuary. Many donate to honor loved ones who have passed, celebrate an anniversary or birthday or just because they love seeing flowers at church. Whatever the reason, the thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Flowers can come from your garden or a flower shop, whatever works best for you.

Thank you to all who have donated throughout the year 2017!
If you would like to sign up to provide flowers for an upcoming Sunday service or for more information please continue to this  link .
