If you're a new manager, you may be struggling to find enough time to oversee your department staff while completing your daily tasks. You may also feel like you're walking on a tightrope trying to establish yourself as a leader without coming off as either too forceful or too wishy-washy.

3. Maintain flexibility by being prepared to adapt to differences in your staff members, and be willing to change course when things aren't going as planned.
