        Registration is on going for our 2017 Annual Training Symposium/ Conference being held in Kansas City, MO.  Don't be left out...click here to go directly to the Conference registration.

       Check out www.alertconference.org  to learn all about this year's training events.  The Kansas City Police Department, MO is our host agency this year.  Lodging arrangements and the conference will be held at the Kansas City Marriott Country Club Plaza.  You MUST make your own hotel reservations.  Don't delay completing your hotel reservations, go to the ALERT Conference website under the "hotel" button on the main menu bar. Once the block of rooms are taken that we have reserved it will be difficult to get other rooms in the area.

Region 1 -- Training 

EVO Instructor & Vehicle Technology Training Conference (ALERT International Region 1)
 
Audience:  EVO Instructors, Command staff, anyone interested in learning about the latest vehicle and motorcycle training technology

When :   June 15, 2017 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Location :  DPSST, 4190 Aumsville Hwy SE, Salem, Oregon
Cost FREE (but you must be registered), attendees will also receive a one year ALERT International membership
 
Course Description:  ALERT International is a EVO instructor association dedicated to the encouragement and correlation of research and development as well as the sharing of information, ideas and innovations in the area of emergency vehicle response operation.  ALERT Region One is excited to present one of the most technologically advanced training conferences in emergency vehicle operations combining both classroom and hands on experience in the following areas:
 
- SKIDCAR SYSTEM is announcing a new collaboration, combining physical driving dynamics and the latest technology to deliver a new concept in Emergency Vehicle Management with VR MOTION (Virtual Reality Simulation company).  Together they have developed a new "Critical Driver Training in Small Areas" concept, specifically geared to Law Enforcement training.  Be the first to experience this new technology and drive a SKIDCAR.
 
- SKIDBIKE demonstration and drive opportunity
- Effects of Electronic Stability Control on PIT  
- Using Data as an Evaluation Tool  
- Understanding and Training with ESC and other New Vehicle Technology  
- Track time with various exercises

Region 11 -- Training

On Wednesday May 10, 2017 Peel Regional Police held a Driver Training Symposium graciously supported with funding from ALERT International.

The event was held at Peel Regional Police's training facility, The Garry W Morden Centre, in Mississauga, Ontario.  Our  symposium was well attended by Driver Trainers from the surrounding area as well as Sarnia and Ottawa Ontario and the Ontario Police College.

Speakers included Federal Signal / Peel Police Major Collision Bureau / York Regional Police and  U.S. and Canadian representatives from "Stop Stick". An i n-depth discussion was had regarding current trends and issues that all services are currently facing including Patrol Vehicle speed monitoring and large vehicle (Trucks) Events  / Pursuits.

Attendees also received a "Train the Trainer " Certification after taking part in  Live Stop Stick demonstrations.

Regional Directors--
Check-In

       The Board of Directors is asking that ALL Regional Directors to forward your proposed activities for this year's Regional training to Duane Hampton, Board of Directors Regional Representative at [email protected].  

       If you need assistance in pulling off a Regional Event please let Duane know and he will discuss with the Board of Directors.  Last year we only had one Region hold a Regional Gathering and we have only heard from two this year.  The year is almost half over and we have not heard from nine of our Regions.  Come on folks...lets plan on getting every Regional come on board this year.
