$704,714 in The McConnell Fund Grants Announced

We are pleased to share the news of grant funds awarded from The McConnell Fund in the amount of $704,714 to 39 organizations based in Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties. Congratulations! Supported projects range from equipment and facility upgrades, to adding new components to expand existing, successful programs. Local volunteer panelists reviewed proposals, conducted site visits, and made recommendations to the Community Foundation Board of Directors for approval.


The McConnell Foundation established The McConnell Fund at the Community Foundation to address needs of organizations serving the North State region. Grant requests are considered for up to $50,000 from eligible organizations in Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties and up to $30,000 from eligible organizations in Modoc and Trinity counties. Through this long-standing relationship, a total of $8.7 million has been distributed to local nonprofits and public entities in the five-county region.

This brings the cumulative total for all grants awarded under the umbrella of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation to over $19 million since its inception in 2000.

UBS Financial Advisers  Host Informational Event

Brian Sharpes, CIMA of UBS - Golden Gate Group is under contract as investment adviser, managing the Community Foundation's investment pool of endowed funds. In keeping with a commitment to build a strong relationship with staff, fund holders and donors, UBS recently partnered with SRCF to host an informative event at The McConnell Foundation's Lema Ranch facility - the first of more events like this to come!





Chief Executive Officer, Kerry Caranci set the stage in her introductions for the evening, "Brian and his team have the expertise to assist us in managing, building, and reporting our investment strategies to poise SRCF to best serve our donors' funds."

Together with Daniel Tichenor, Officer and Chartered Financial Analyst, Sharpes shared how their investment philosophy works in tandem with the Community Foundation's Investment Policy Statement. They also presented the most recent quarterly asset allocation and performance report, overview of current investment trends and market outlook.

Community Foundation's Chief Financial Officer, Raiann Wilson, commented on the recent addition of UBS to the organization's investment team, "Brian, Dan, and their team will usher SRCF into a new era of investments. As SRCF has continued to grow, so has the need for sophistication in our investments. The experience Brian and Dan bring of working with other Community Foundations as well as their extensive knowledge and accessibility to modern strategies will ensure that our Funds and ultimately our community are well served."
