Winter 2018 Updates

Winter grant deadline extended to Friday 1/26/18 : 2017-2018 BRITE Lab Grant Program. NEW this year, we will consider grant proposals for experimental projects that are not necessarily conducted in the physical BRITE Lab space.

NEW BRITE subject pool compensation rates: IRB just approved a new set of guidelines for BRITE concerning subject pool compensation rates, please see more detailed info below.

Felix Zhan joins BRITE this semester as our new Assistant Lab Manager. Felix is a PhD student in Consumer Behavior & Family Economics. Prior to UW-Madison, he completed an M.S. in Economics at SUNY Buffalo. Welcome, Felix!

New BRITE Lab Compensation Guidelines

Based on feedback from researchers, BRITE has updated the compensation guidelines for studies that recruit from our BRITE subject pool. Below is the new minimum payment schedule:

Average payout calculation for variable payments: total cost of the session/# of subjects in that experiment session = $ per person.

For example, for a 60 min. experiment with a variable payment type, some individuals may receive less than $15 and some may receive more, but the average payment for that experiment should be at least $15/person.

The individual(s) who receive less than average must not be compensated by less than $5, which can be thought of as a minimum “show-up fee”.
