Dear Parents,

The Gospel value for the month of January is Peace. Peace, in the Christian sense of the word. It is the recognition that the soul need not be troubled or worried because, in the end, there is serenity with our Lord.

The one thing that remains constant, unchanging, and eternal is the relationship of life and love that each person shares with the Blessed Trinity. May we find our inner
peace with God and spread that peace outward to each other and to all who we meet in our daily lives.

Quote from Pope Francis:

" The Holy Spirit transforms and renews us, creates harmony and unity, and gives us courage and joy for mission."

Faithfully Yours,

Miss Giaquinto

SCSS Basketball News                                   basketball_dark.jpg

This past weekend at the St. Theresa Basketball Tournament in which all three of our girls teams (V, JV and JJV) won their first round games. Both Girls JJV and Boys 4th Grade JJV have games this  Friday, January 12th  at St. Theresa.  They are playing back to back, with the girls up first at  5:30pm  and boys at  6:40pm  at the St. Theresa school gym ( 55 Rosemond Terrace, Trumbull ).  Also, the Girls JV play again  this Saturday  at  noon  and Girls Varsity play  Sunday  at  1:30pm.   Boys Varsity next game at St. Theresa's is  January 21st at 2:40pm.   Admission for spectators is $2/student and $3/adult for anyone who wants to come cheer them on.

The 4th grade boys JJV team won a thriller in their Suburban League game this past  Saturday against All Saints, 20-19, with a solid team effort and are now 2-1 in the league.

Our Girls Varsity team continues toward their goal of playing in the CYO Championship (held in Hartford Diocese this year) in March, with several wins and just one loss.  There are many games to come still, including the Diocese playoffs in March.  If the girls make it to the CYO Championship, it will be the third year in a row for this group of students - quite an accomplishment!

All of our teams represent St. Catherine's well and exhibit good character and sportsmanship and they are all putting forth their best efforts each game, regardless if they win or lose.

If you would like more information about the game schedules for any of the teams, please contact co-Athletic Directors Mark Conklin ( [email protected]) or Colleen Jacques ( [email protected])
