Parish News
Calling all polyglots...help share the gospel on Pentecost!
Polyglot=someone who speaks more than one language.
On the day of Pentecost, a multiethnic crowd was gathered in Jerusalem, and by the power of the holy spirit, each heard the gospel proclaimed in her own native language (see Acts 2:1-8). This year on Pentecost (June 4), we'll have fun creating such a multilingual scene. If you read or speak a foreign language, and are willing to read a few scripture verses on June 4, please email Nadia today! People of all ages--including young students of foreign languages!--are encouraged to participate. Contact Nadia to learn more.
Summer Rummage Sale - June 3 - Please Volunteer
Summer Rummage
Our annual summer Rummage Sale is on Saturday, June 3 from 8AM to 12PM. We need lots of help!! Please contact Charlotte McGee at  [email protected] if you are available. You will make her day!

Chicago Style Voting for Chicago Style Pizza!
Support the mission team and rock the vote: Who has the best pizza in Chicago?
Lou Malnati's? Giordano's? Marco Roma?
Cast your vote by buying a pizza topping in the Prevost Cloister on June 4 and 11. When our friends from the Rosebud Reservation visit, we'll feed them at the pizza joint that wins!
Steve Tamayo and the Lakota Traditional Dancers Visit June 10!
Join us at Maple St. Park June 10 for a demonstration in traditional Lakota dancing, drumming, singing, and regalia (costuming) as well as a cook-out with our friends from South Dakota. A few of the dancers will be back in July (including Steve's grandson Carlos), so it's a great time to start building relationship with our mission team partners! Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket a la our summer park services! Our friends are on their first ever Great American Tour, making a stop in Chicago just for us, and we will take a free-will offering to help them on their way. Recommended donation $5/person. RSVP to Leah Romanelli ([email protected], 815.757.7567) and bring your friends for this amazing and rare opportunity for a multi-cultural experience!  Appropriate for all ages.

Our friends will be staying in the Parish House nursery. If you would like to help host our guests by providing meals or air mattresses and sleeping bags, please contact Leah.
"Brunch on the Patio" - June 11 - After the 9:30AM Service
Doesn't that sound lovely? It will be, if you are there after the 9:30 service on Sunday, June 11. The breakfast casseroles will be the creation of Mary Jo McMillin. Join us for a relaxing "potluck-style" meal. Please help round out the menu by bringing fruit, breakfast sweets, salad or a side dish to share. Reply to Darlene, [email protected], with your preferred choice.
Thanks so much!

Hymnathon Recap
Many thanks to all of you who so generously supported our recent Hymnathon! The event raised over $11,000 for our youth choir touring. The Christ Church Choir strives for 100% participation by its youth singers when touring. Your generous contributions help us approach that goal by providing scholarships for all youth who require them. This summer our group will be traveling to the UK to sing for a week of services at Winchester Cathedral. The following February we will be traveling to Atlanta to sing at historic St. Philip's Cathedral. Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement.
Opportunities to Serve
2nd Annual Grace House Gardening Day!
Tuesday, June 6 - 9:30AM - Noon
Donate and Join us

Last year the residents of Grace House and Christ Church parishioners worked side by side to create a wonderful garden.  We enjoyed a lovely community breakfast served on the porch, then we rolled up our sleeves and got to work planting herbs, vegetables and flowers. The residents enjoyed the bounty from the garden all season and the women are very excited to do it again. Residents tend the garden - weeding, watering and harvesting during the summer.

They have given us a "wish list" of some new items they would like to plant this year - cabbage, onions and greens. We need: donations of plants, donations of money to purchase plants and volunteers (men, women and students) to help do the planting.  We plan on carpooling from the Maple Street parking lot @ 8:30AM down to Grace House. Please join us!  Contact Carmen Wilcox for further information.                          [email protected]
