January 26 - February 11, 2018
When Judy Garland stepped out onto the stage at Carnegie Hall on April 23, 1961, the raucous standing ovation that greeted her was just the start of what has been called "the greatest night in show business history." Award-winning actress/singer Jody Briskey will channel Garland and recreate that night's iconic performance in Garland in Word and Song at the Willow Theatre in Sugar Sand Park.
Garland in Word and Song is a show that Briskey found evolved naturally over the years. She has portrayed Judy Garland several times - most notably in History Theatre's world premiere of Beyond the Rainbow, a role she reprised at Florida Stage, and for which she received a 2006 Carbonell nomination, and at the Theatre at Arts Garage.
"Judy has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl, although I may not have known it at the time," Jody Briskey says. "I knew there was something about her, especially when she sang, that latched on to my soul. As I developed my own passion for singing, I always made sure I sang something of Judy's. She had a way of singing a standard song you may have heard a dozen times by other performers but by the time she enveloped it with her heart it became uniquely hers."

Coming to Ft. Lauderdale!
February 1 - March 25, 2018
Every mother dreams her children will grow up to be happy, healthy, and successful. Every Jewish mother secretly - and often not so secretly - adds specifics to her wish: A doctor, a lawyer, a dentist, or these days, a Silicon Valley tycoon would make her very happy. Brad Zimmerman's mother has finally adapted to her 'actor-waiter' son's career choice and financial situation: "If all goes well, I think Brad is going to buy a bookcase," she boasts to her friends.
My Son the Waiter: A Jewish Tragedy
is the story of Brad Zimmerman's struggle to fulfill his dream and 'make it' as a comedic actor in New York. One-part standup, one-part theatrical, and all parts uproarious
My Son the Waiter: A Jewish Tragedy

Four centuries after its premiere, Shakespeare's Hamlet remains one of the classics of the world stage, for its tale of mortality and madness in which the characters inhabit a rich landscape replete with deceit, mistrust, and schemes.
|
Dubbed "a classically trained, modernly hip troupe" by The New York Times,
Aquila Theatre Company became an established part of the New York theater scene in 1999 with its first production of
Iliad: Book One at the Clark Studio at Lincoln Center followed by long running Off-Broadway productions of
The Comedy of Errors and
Much Ado About Nothing. The permanent company-in-residence at the Center for Ancient Studies at New York University, the troupe strives to create bold reinterpretations of classical plays for contemporary audiences that free the spirit of the original work.

SYNOPSIS From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation, The Producers, comes this monster new musical comedy. The comedy genius, Mel Brooks, adapts his legendarily funny film into a brilliant stage creation - Young Frankenstein! Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a ditzy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. "It's alive!" he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds. Every bit as relevant to audience members who will remember the original as it will be to newcomers, Young Frankenstein has all the of panache of the screen sensation with a little extra theatrical flair added. With such memorable tunes as "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' on the Ritz," Young Frankenstein is scientifically proven, monstrously good entertainment.
