 Deadline Extended: Environmental Internships Offered to Burlingame Students
The deadline has been extended until Monday, January 22, for high school students who wish to apply for paid environmental internships offered by the Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame in partnership with the City of Burlingame. The Environmental Internship Program, which will begin in February 2018, is designed to help motivate and nurture the next generation of environmentalists.
Meetings will take place during the spring and fall semesters of 2018, and a $300 stipend will be paid to each intern at completion of the program. The program is open to current sophomores or juniors who live or attend school in Burlingame. They must be available to meet once per month, on a Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Burlingame Public Library.
Students will discuss and research topics from four primary areas of sustainability concern: transportation, energy, water, and waste. Interested students should apply by

- Applicant's name, address, grade, school, cell phone number and home phone number
- A scan of the applicant's current transcript
- A brief statement, one page maximum, explaining why the applicant is interested in the program and what he or she hopes to learn or accomplish

A great feast will be provided along with a royal Master of Ceremony and DJ, as well as a photo booth! Chaperons with multiple young royals can purchase additional, discounted tickets, if needed! The purpose of this class is to prepare you with the essential information needed to open, organize, operate, and close a disaster shelter. Participate as an individual or bring your entire group and learn as a team and be ready to help your community when a major disaster occurs.

Ride a Bike with the Mayor
The City of Burlingame is holding a community event to celebrate our
bicycle sharing program. Please join us on Tuesday morning, January 16, at 9:30 a.m. outside of City Hall.
LimeBike will have bikes ready to ride, free helmets to distribute, and coffee for all to enjoy.
LimeBike will be expanding the City's
bicycle sharing program this weekend with more bicycles available around town. We hope more people will continue riding and trying the bikes out. "LimeBike's bike sharing pilot offers Burlingame residents and visitors a fun new transportation option for getting around town," Mayor Brownrigg explains. "We hope the pilot will reveal the bicycle potential in Burlingame and encourage people to choose biking over driving."
