Whether you are just starting 5.0, or trying to finish 4.0 before it's retired, you can find a community of people to connect with. This event serves as the kickoff to the 2018 AIA Charlotte Study Group. Josh Kieb, Assoc. AIA, Associate Director of the AIAC Board, will share basic information about the ARE, as well as benefits for members of the study group. Let's get you a license (and a pint) in 2018!

The City of Charlotte named new Planning Director, Taiwo Jaiyeoba, effective January 16, 2018. Join us for lunch at the Barrel Room at Triple C Brewing on Wednesday, January 31 to hear directly from the new Director. Free parking is available in the Triple C parking lot and on streets nearby. Attendees are encouraged to consider the Blue Line to New Bern station. The meeting is free to members and sponsors. 

Lunch is provided beginning at 11:30 am; the program starts promptly at noon. Non-members pay $45 to attend.  All must register .

Mentorship Exchange Kickoff January 17 at UNCC

An alternative approach to mentorship, this program assembles customized groups of students and professionals to provide new experiences and different perspectives for all those involved. The estimated commitment is 2-4 hours per semester to meet with your group.

Bechtler Modernism + Film January Screening

Frei Otto: Spanning the Future, a documentary about 2015 Pritzker Prize Laureate considered by some to be the father of tensile form in architecture, screens next week at the Bechtler. Watch the trailer. Greg Snyder, Associate Professor at UNC Charlotte School of Architecture, presents opening remarks.

Save the Date: Brick & Architecture Symposium 2018

AIA Charlotte will once again partner with the Brick Industry Association as they dedicate the final day of their 2018 Brick Forum to architects. The Brick and Architecture Symposium/February Membership Meeting will be a free half-day event on Wednesday, February 28 . Additional details, speakers, and registration will be announced soon. Save the date!

In 2018, AIA National has reduced the number of contract documents it will make available in paper. Click here to see the updated list of available documents that AIA Charlotte will keep in inventory.

Digital options for the full library of documents, including Documents-on-Demand and ACD5 software, are still available. For details, see aiacontracts.org.

UNC Charlotte CareerEXPO_2018

AEC employers from across the region are invited to UNC Charlotte for CareerEXPO_2018, an opportunity to showcase the firms' work, build relationships with the School of Architecture, and interview potential candidates for summer, part-time, and full-time employment. Registration for this one-day event includes one display area in Storrs Hall, continental breakfast, lunch and social.
